"One hundred and ten, Your Majesty. I am aware that I am very young, but among Asrai that manage to become part of any society I am considered almost old. My survival to this age can be seen as almost remarkable." Many Asrai feared the binding required to live on land, could not stand being covered and hidden away for the most part. Her sister had been like that, she had wanted to be free above all else, a desire which got her killed and taught Isyllt a very important lesson. Many felt sorry for her, that she should have to cover herself so, she did not see it like that. To her it was what saved her and she valued her life far more than what many considered to be 'freedom'.
"Wise, My Lord? Only if our Queen deems it so. I take no chances with my life and I have managed to live with male relatives and servants for as long as I can remember and I have not once caused them any harm or distress." Her eyes traveled to Judgement for a moment, then to the Queen, not that either would have been able to see it. "Your Highness, with all due respect, it would take far more than the wind to expose me." She lifted a hand, showing the dark fabric mesh that clung to her skin, even where it was webbed. "Under this hood and the rest of my clothes I wear this special fabric at all times. It cannot be cut, torn or pierced, and can only be removed by undoing at least a dozen clasps at the neck, shoulders and waist. I do not suffocate in it, it breathes, is incredibly soft and helps to keep me warm as I am usually rather cold. True it can be seen-through but only from inside it. You see I not only must protect myself from the eyes of others but also from the sun, so as you see I do far more than simply throw a robe over myself and hope for a still day."
The slightly alarmed expression was thankfully hidden, the only indication of it was that she tilted her head back slightly. She had expected that the Queen would ask to see her face but the part involving a demonstration surprised her. "I," that soft as silk voice faltered a for a moment before returning to normal. "If Your Grace wishes I will of course comply. I would only ask that the man chosen would also be restrained, there is a chance that he would lunge. I have not seen it personally, I would call it unlikely but I had a tutor from the ARA who thought that if there was a way to counteract my curse-" she quickly corrected herself. "My ability. At the time my mother forbade him from trying. As far as I know the blindness would result from attempting to change the way the subject's eyes perceived me, in some cases the brain would rebel against the image and the conflict would cause it to shut down the visual cortex entirely."
