Azyebel, Mikino and Isyllt
The Palace
Mid-Afternoon
Interviewing Her Majesty's Ladies
It didn't escape Isyllt that her sister had gone through a great deal of trouble to even have her considered for the position. She had not been a member of her new house for long, a house that was among the truly great northern houses with daughters to spare, and yet somehow she had enough influence in a relatively short time to send her to the Queen instead of one of their daughters. But it wasn't simply a gift of course, Isyllt would have to work just as hard to earn and keep her position, even if she did not marry, because if she failed or caused public scandal it would be her sister who suffered with her. She had wanted to tell herself that was the true cause of the cold parting they had, but she knew better. That love that had once bound them together had broken and now Fioled was only too happy to ship Isyllt off south. She hadn't dwelt on it long, instead choosing to sleep most of the journey down, finding it far more healthy than fretting about her relationship with her sister and just what was before her.
The sleep turned out to be the best idea as shortly after she was shown to her temporary set of rooms she was sent for by her highness and Lord Judgement. Once again she was thankful that no one could see her expression under her hood and that mesh she wore, she had no doubt that she had gone pale and had the look of a rabbit running from a hound. She had been more than a little nervous about meeting the new Queen ever since her sister informed her of her possible new position, after all she had spent most of her life just outside Rivertown and had rarely ventured into the village, and absolutely never by herself. Now she would be meeting the most powerful woman in the land, that alone was overwhelming, adding the possibility of her serving the woman and becoming one of her close companions was nearly too much for her. But as always she was obedient and was quick to come when called.
She waited in the hall with another young lady, one of likely higher birth than herself, for a relatively short time. They had attempted to make small talk as they waited, she had wanted to know why Isyllt was covered, the look too strange to be purely fashionable, but as she had not asked directly she hadn't attempted to touch on the subject, fearing her reaction. It made her wonder just how much had been told to the palace about her and what she was and how much she would have to explain to her Highness. She wasn't given long to think on that though as one young lady walked from the room and she was swiftly called by name to enter. Thanks to her naturally tall frame, in-born grace and cut of her long, dark travel dress she nearly appeared to glide across the floor, stopping before the woman who could be none other than the Queen and the famous Lord Judgement at her side. She curtsied low and remained in place, waiting to be addressed or commanded.
