Sidonie and Eoin
Royal Apartments
Late evening
While the cats are away the handsome mouse turns on the charm
It was amazing to Eoin how the palace could seem so busy and yet be missing so many of the Queendom's usual important fixtures. Fredric had been gone for several days, as had the Chaldean and Lady Avalynn, a great deal of his fellows in the assembly had either returned to their homes or had been called into service. Someone had said something about Judgement being out that evening as well, likely dealing with interrogations and investigations. It all suited Eoin just fine as he knew it meant the Queen was likely alone that evening and in just as dire a need for distraction as she had been when she appeared in his home after the attack. And even if she wasn't in so bad a need he noted how lonely she usually seemed even during the best of times and he knew he could remedy that if she would let him.
His gifts for her now had been checked and re-checked at the door of her apartments, he had even surrendered his sword which he had taken to carrying with him now for the sake of making her guards happy. He didn't grumble, and he wasn't even particularly sarcastic with them, given the recent thinning of their ranks he couldn't blame them for being incredibly thorough. But eventually he was allowed to pass and was shown to where the Queen was sitting alone, he didn't take a step into the room but from where he was she could see that she seemed engrossed in something she was reading. He stopped the lady that had shown him in from announcing him, instead handing over the box of chocolates and bottle of wine marked with the Viorel crest in rhinestones etched into the glass, instructing the lady to present them to the Queen before asking if he was allowed in.
He was playing at something but it was a harmless something. It was simply another way of gauging her feelings for him and her mood. Sure, he was giving her the chance to send him away but given how well things had been going between them up to this point he knew she would at least invite him in before sending him away.
