Antonio and Rae
Monday afternoon
Ant's shop
Antonio did not typically venture to the front of his shop. There were people there. Tourists and those goddamn pseudopagans that thought they were being edgy or trendy or whatever the hell it was. Types like his mother who liked to pretend and play, who talked a big game but had never tasted real magic and probably never would. Antonio had no patience for being told about his "aura" and God help the poor soul who told him to have a "blessed day".
But Agador was missing, and Aliandra just insisted she had seen him scuttle out this way. The imp was far from the most stoic of familiars, but he usually did stay where he belonged. But Antonio had been known to neglect his need to spend time out stretching his disgusting little limbs, and then the creature would get antsy and misbehave. He might have ignored it, but he didn't need the attention that another incident would bring. So he tried his best to look casual as he walked up and down the isles, scanning high and low. He didn't succeed in looking casual, of course. He was tense out here, his teeth grinding together in a way that would have left any dentist woozy.
He grunted in disinterest when someone asked him about incense. He was glad when they left, and he had the place back to himself. Well, him and the young witch working the counter. Half the stuff in the store was junk like that, for the casual consumer... Their usual customers wanted things that were cute and quirky, like little carvings of fairies or monsters, or overpriced leather "grimoire" journals. But there were genuine items mixed in, mostly too dull or too expensive to draw the eye of any but an actual practitioner.
Antonio D'Agostino had been raised by a genuine coven. He had no patience for that either these days, but he knew his craft and his entire life, literally, was dedicated to furthering it. So when Rae entered the store, it wasn't the dinging of that god-awful bell Aliandra had bought that caught his attention. It was Rae herself. She had just stepped inside and caught his attention for what would have been a fleeting moment, had Agador not chosen it to dart for the closing door. Antonio was faster, a gesture and a harshly growled word causing the door to slam shut behind the woman and in front of the putrid little imp. Its ugly head slammed hard into the glass, and then he was off again, a blur of sagging grey skin, to hide amongst the displays and shelving--perhaps even the beams crisscrossing the ceiling. The little beast could climb well enough...
Antonio swore violently, frowning at Rae as if it were in some way her fault that he was having to go through all of this. "Did you see where he went?"
