Catching up Who: Nesryn/NPC - April Reese What: A phone call When: Present Rating: Low
Hey girl!
April?” Nesryn inquired, curious.
She was estranged from most of her friends and family back in Portland. Her leaving meant she had burned a lot of bridges on the way out of the city with a good many people. It hadn’t yet been a year. The attempts of her father to bring her back home had been thwarted. But she had kept in contact with a few people from her own inner circle from Portland via messenger on Facebook and text.
April Reese was one of the few people from home Nesryn could trust. They’d gone to school together since kindergarten, though they had a falling out or two over the years as they grew up as girls tend to, but they outgrew their differences and reconnected.
When Nesryn had first thought of leaving, April had been the first person from the pack she had talked to about it. April promised to keep her secret, and when Nesryn finally followed through with the plan, April backed her up.
“Hey gir!” April chirped, happy to talk to her friend.
The conversion was brief. They chatted about stuff going on in their lives, April met someone and was really doing well. Nesryn was happy for her. Her friend mentioned something about a bit of trouble she had heard about, a few odd occurrences caused by members from an outside pack, but it didn’t sound urgent and hadn’t affected either of their families outright.
With the up-coming holiday season Nesryn exchanged a few words about plans - what April was getting for her family mostly - and what they hoped the next year would bring.
Then the phone call was done.
Nesryn took a deep breath, smiled, and went on with her day glad to have heard from her friend back home.
