RP: New Friends
Characters: Tristan, Moony, Padfoot, Prongs
Time/Date: Mid-eveningish through tomorrow
Location: Hogwarts, Forbidden Forest
Warnings/Rating: Tris' innuendos?
Summary: Tris shows up to take Moony through the motions
Status: Dropped

Tristan had been ... surprised at the request. He wondered how hard the healer had fought against him being invited to the castle for an extra moon, and he grinned slightly. He was never sure if it was better or not that she was just afraid of him, and it wasn't that she hated him or his kind.

Landon had been understandably disappointed; he'd been looking forward to watching Tris run through the woods behind Isaac's place. But he understood, too. And he was jealous as hell, but goodnaturedly so. He'd be meeting the infamous Marauders in a few days. Maybe even tutoring or something, if they went that route.

Tristan arrived at Hogwarts just after his own dinner and a peek in the Great Hall showed he was just in time for the end of their dinner. Brilliant timing then. He tried to shove his hands into his pockets only to recall he was wearing pocketless sweats (because they were easier for on and off before and after his shifts). So he settled for letting his hands dangle at his sides.

Blue eyes swept over the lot of them, and he nodded. No one had ever mentioned the three of them were so hot. He tried to guess which was which, and process of elimination was quick enough to label them. James had the glasses, Sirius had the dark hair, and that meant Remus ... was the other one.

Plunking himself down beside the other wolf, he grinned. "Fancy a shag then?"

Oh yes. Tristan certainly had to make an impression, didn't he? The fact that he'd happily have a go at any of the three of them didn't hurt matters any, either. Though he reasoned at least two of them were straight what with the fathering children and all that ... unless they had had wild bisexual sides in school that they'd just repressed. Yes, he'd think along those lines. Because that was more fun.

"Oi, I knew it," Sirius declared, leaning across the table to point one finger at Remus' face. "I knew you'd gone and gotten lewd on us. What was all that rubbish about being at home? This is what being shirtless gets you. Remember that for future reference, mate."

Leaning back again, Sirius flashed the newcomer a grin and nodded a greeting. "Fancy you'd be Remus' new boyfriend, right? He's been talking about you all night."

Lies, all of it. But Sirius couldn't resist teasing Moony at every opportunity. He'd thought for a little while there that he would never get to tease him again, so it was perfectly understandable.

Waiting for a reaction, Sirius briefly surveyed their new companion and decided that he liked him. Anyone brass enough to say that as a first hullo was good in his books.

Remus blushed and spluttered at the greeting he received from the boy who just had to be Tristan. It didn't help that Tristan was good-looking and that Remus had discovered his somewhat less than completely heterosexual leanings during the last year and a half. Thankfully Sirius chimed in at that point and Remus was able to regain a little equilibrium.

He batted Sirius' finger away and gave him his patented 'Pads, you're an idiot' look. He'd used that one a lot over the years so he figured he could patent it. It was pretty similar to his patented 'Prongs, you're an idiot' look.

"Being shirtless gets me looks of shock and pity," he said with dry amusement. "Weren't you the one calling me scrawny beyond all belief last ye..." He broke off abruptly and looked down at his plate. Sirius had called him that last year. Before the Incident, as he'd started calling it in his mind. Neither of which this Sirius would remember. How many times was he going to trip up before he ended up spilling the beans about what had happened? He wasn't a very good liar.

He drew in a deep breath and continued as though he hadn't just paused. "The only other thing being shirtless gets me is cold. And I don't like being cold."

He turned to Tristan and smiled with wry good humour. "You must be Tristan. I'm Remus. That idiot is Sirius and that one is James. They won't think to introduce themselves because they're convinced everyone knows who they are. They may be right but that's no excuse for bad manners." He'd affected a slightly prim look at the end of that little speech then he relaxed into a grin.

Skipping James due to bad-nets

"Talking about me all night, huh?" Tris said with a grin to Sirius. "Funny, I just heard I was showing up here this morning. He must be psychic. Me, I'm rubbish in divination. Dropped it as soon as I could." He chuckled softly.

"Right, I'm Tristan Joseph Moore. Usually I've got my faithful sidekick, Landon Bryan Farnsworth, but unfortunately he is neither wolf nor animagus, so he wouldn't be able to do much but run around the edge of the forest. Maybe fetch our clothes if the wind got frisky with them."

Oh yes. This was going to be lovely fun, and he grinned wickedly. "Pleasure to meet the lot of you. I'd worked out who was who," he assured Remus with a wink. "But I do see what you mean about the lack of manners."

Pale eyes swept over the three of them before he studied them more critically. Yes, he would have no problem what so ever getting a little frisky with any of them. Which wasn't what he should be thinking about right now. He was here to help out a fellow werewolf who'd just returned from the dead.

He'd also been cautioned not to mention Teddy, on pain of several detentions. Seemed a bit off to him, but he wasn't going to risk detentions and risk freaking the bloke out. "So how do you lot usually do this, or ... are we not going by that since he'll be sane and we can just play?"

"He's got a middle name," Sirius informed his mates seriously. "So does his mate. It means they've both got those manner things."

He frowned thoughtfully.

"Reckon they're contagious?" he asked James, feigning slight horror before turning back to their werewolf comrades. It was a little weird to think there were two blokes at Hogwarts now with furry little problems. It wouldn't be quite as fun without it being a secret between the four of them, but he supposed it might be good for Remus to have someone with the same problem to relate to.

And since they had something in common, it would be all the more fun to poke fun at Remus about it.

"Usually," Sirius said, answering Tristan's question, "we go down to Hogsmeade and nick a barrel of firewhiskey. And then we see how much Remmy here can down before he can't run a straight line. That's about the time we head for the lake and make bets on who can swim the farthest before the giant squid decided to do us in."

Pausing, Sirius looked to Remus. "Though I suppose if we don't want your new best mate done in by the squid, we can skip that."

Sirius paused another beat.

"Is he your new best mate? Honestly? I thought what we had was special, mate! You're cutting me to the quick dumping me without a day's thought on the matter!"

Remus couldn't help but relax around Tristan... and be incredibly envious of him. It was pretty obvious he'd never had to hide what he was or live in fear that he'd be kicked out of school. It was enough to make Remus decide that no matter what difficulties or problems arose in this new time and from returning from the dead, it was worth it not to have to feel afraid all the time.

He even managed to visibly relax as the banter between the other flowed around him, most of it at his expense. He was used to that though and it helped before the full moon.

He rolled his eyes at Sirius' antics. "Usually I go to the Shack with Madam Pomfrey, she leaves me there, I transform then these two clowns come along in their other forms and herd me out into the Forest and keep me from running off and doing something horrible. Padfoot is very distracting and Prongs has all these antlers that usually made Moony behave. Funny that," he said dryly. "What we're going to do this time is anybody's guess since I don't know what using this potion is like. Soeaking of... what is it like?"

He tossed a pea at Sirius then kicked him under the table as he grinned. "Don't be a twat. Of course you and James are my best mates. Stop trying to get me to make girly statements. It won't work."

He felt oddly elated which was a very strange feeling on a full moon. He was more used to feeling miserable and apprehensive.

NO LONGER SKIPPING JAMES!

James had been too busy sporfling to really think of a good comeback, and was glad that Sirius had had his back with that one, content to just go with whatever his mate could come up with at the spur of the moment. It wasn't like tormenting Remus was hard.

"Seems to me we're idiot clowns with no manners, and no memory since we can't remember what we usually do on the fulls, Pads, it's no wonder we're being replaced," he commented, before he grinned a bit. "If we're being replaced, does that mean we have to get a new wolf? Should we take this one?"

He paused.

"And Rem, we don't have to try to make you say girly statements," he said with a grin. Though really, he was curious to hear how this supposed 'miracle wolf potion' was supposed to work, and was willing to put a hold on the teasing to hear it.

Tristan grinned as he listened to the bantering, the 'explanations' of their usual procedure, and the goodnatured teasing. He thought this was going to be fun. Really fun.

"I haven't had anyone to run with," he admitted. "So I've been pretty big on self entertainment. I climbed a tree once, just to see if I could. Gravity isn't the most fun way to get down. The free-falling was neat, but the landing wasn't fantastic." He grinned. "Fortunately didn't break anything."

He tilted his head slightly as he thought. "It's hard to explain. I haven't had anything to compare it to ... I've been on it since my second shift. The first one was ... unexpected. I don't really remember much of it though." He exhaled softly. "But it's like it's you ... with four legs, fur, and some instincts. The wolf instincts are there, but they can be repressed. And you really don't think twice about snapping up a mouse or a rabbit for a snack. Ah. You remember the next morning - well usually afternoon, for me - everything you got up to the night before. I guess...it's not like that, off the potion? The remembering bit, I mean."

Tris grinned. "It's nice. You'll have to tell me what sort of difference it makes," he said as he nudged Remus' side lightly. Maybe it was just because Remus was a wolf, but Tristan thought he had a rather attractive scent.

Ahuh. He'd have to be careful with that. "So, right, before you hear it from anyone else, because it isn't exactly a secret, I like boys, but I promise to keep my hands to myself and not hit on you too much," he offered with a grin. Honestly though, he didn't think any of them would mind a little good-natured teasing in that direction - but he would behave if it was uncomfortable for them.

Sirius covered his mouth and gasped in as girly a way as he could manage before his ego and self respect started whimpering from the corner he had banished them to until he had need for them.

"Really?" Sirius asked, looking to James in mock horror. "That's it, then. Before it was all a joke, but now Remmy really is off and eloping. Don't quite know what to say."

Which was a lie. It always was. Remus and James would know that -- Sirius always had a smart comment to make when he was in a good mood. He'd been off his game since landing himself in the Ministry, but reuniting with two of his best mates had boosted his spirits considerably.

Sirius propped both elbows on the table and rested his chin in his hands.

And smiled as innocently as he could manage at Remus.

"Except... can I be your maid of honor at the wedding?"

He would give Remus a break. One day. Not today.

Sirius quirked an eyebrow at Tris. "You're going to adopt me and Prongs here, yeah? Remus is our parental voice of reason. 'specially since he's got a year up on us now."

Remus was too fascinated by the description of being a werewolf using the potion to be distracted by James and Sirius... though he did toss another pea at Sirius. Tristan's description sounded a lot better than what he usually went through.

"No," he said with a shake of his head and a small grin at the nudge. "I've never really remembered too much of the night. Just vague impressions and feelings really." He grimaced. "Sometimes I remember more but it's never really clear."

He stared at Tristan for a moment after his little revelation then he blushed and looked away, reaching for his pumpkin juice almost reflexively. "Uh, it... uh, doesn't bother me." He blushed a bit more when he realised how that could sound - and even more so because he was fairly certain he wouldn't mind Tristan hitting on him or getting a bit handsy - and he hoped that Sirius and James were going to continue with their teasing. When they were teasing, he knew they were okay with everything. It was when they got serious that he knew there was trouble.

He pulled himself together and rolled his eyes. "Well, someone has to be the voice of reason around here," he said with a rueful grin. "If for no other reason than so we can at least say that we were aware of the consequences when we get in trouble. That always goes down well for some reason."

James snorted. "We'll have to go dress shopping for you, Pads. I don't think anything you've got now would be suitable for a wolf wedding," he paused, thoughtfully. "Would we have to hold it on the night of the full or something?"

Though he had to wonder with the way Remus was reacting to it how much of it was a joke, and how much of it was everyone taking seriously. He shrugged though, it wasn't like it made that much of a difference now. Maybe he'd chat with Pads about it later, if he remembered.

He did listen with curiosity to the wolf stuff. It sounded great, in theory, but he didn't really want to get his hopes up until he actually saw it in action. There'd been moments during the fulls where they'd thought they'd gotten through to Remus, after all, but it was never the case. He'd stopped hoping after a while.

"I dunno about adopting us, mate. Moony here's been eased into it. We weren't nearly so bad when we were younger," he crossed his arms, and made like he was sizing Tristan up. "Bloke's a bit young and he hasn't even died yet. Don't know that he's up for the challenge."

"I've got a nice lilac number that could work for you," he offered to Sirius with a grin. "Should fit just fine, and it'll bring out your eyes. And I'd be honored to adopt the pair of you, but shouldn't we wait until I officially propose? I mean, I haven't even snogged him yet and you two are marrying us off already." He winked playfully to Remus before he regarded the other two.

"I may be young, but I've got experience," he assured James with a waggle of his brows. "Plus, I've been dealing with Potters and Weasleys since my first year here. Think I've got you lot sorted out."

He smiled to Remus. "Lan's my voice of reason. Imagine you'll get to be good mates with him while the two of you caution us hellions and roll your eyes when we get caught wreaking whatever havoc we've invented."

Tilting his head curiously, he nodded to Remus. "Do you think you'll be taking lessons in the potion? I meet with Professor Stirling once a week for extra lessons in that potion. I'm probably still a few years off, because it's bloody difficult to make, but ... someday I'll be able to make my own." He paused. "Though I suppose if we're to be married, I could just make it for the both of us, yeah?"

Sirius decided to grace the peas that had been flicked at him with his attention at last. He carefully retrieved them all and loaded them in a spoon, setting it up as a catapult aimed at Remus' nose.

He didn't fire yet. He would wait.

It was always best to nail someone in the eye when they weren't expecting it.

"Your spawn is trouble," Sirius shared quietly with James. "We're going to have to get around this Lan fellow and show them all how the pros wreak havoc and amass mayhem."

"Sirius would look awful in lilac," Remus said absently, frowning down at his dinner then deciding that he wasn't in the mood to eat anymore. He could feel the sunset approaching and it was making his skin crawl. He wondered if the Wolfsbane would make the full moon's any more tolerable. Maybe one day he might not view them with dread and hate.

He pushed his plate away along with those thoughts and looked over at Tristan. "I'd like to take the lessons but I'm not great at Potions. If Professor Stirling is patient then I wouldn't mind trying." He chuckled at the married comment and wished he could be as relaxed as Tristan obviously was. How did he not feel the full moon?

"I think this year is going to be very, very interesting," he said dryly. "Between us and the Potters and Weasleys, the teachers are going to be having very full detentions."

"I gotta agree mate, I don't think I approve of this spawn going around and getting the credit for the efforts I put in," he nudged Sirius with his arm. "I mean we put some solid planning hours into our pranks, and just 'cause they get my namesake, they get to come in here and claim some sort of rights?"

He held up his hands defensively. "Weasleys, I'll give. They've done their share. I've been to the joke shop - bloody fantastic - but the others?" he grinned at Tristan. "Trust me. Anything they can come up with is child's play."

While he nodded and pretended to be interested, he wasn't really paying attention to the talk of extra potions lessons (really? Someone would inflict more potions on themselves? The Slimy Git liked potions). But he got that it was important to Remus, so he just stayed quiet since he didn't have anything clever to add.

"Detention rooms are only full if students are foolish enough to get caught," he reminded Remus with a smirk.

"Well, they know who to look out for in my case," Tris offered to James with a little shrug and a grin. "Imagine they'll know the stories about you lot and keep an eye on you, too. If you're going to get caught though? Try to make sure it's Professor Silver. She's got a prankster's genes and she'll go a little easier on you. I heard she goes to magic shows just to screw with the Muggle magicians."

It occurred to Tristan then just what sort of gap there was in their time and this time. The professors he had now likely weren't even born when this lot was in school.

That was freakish.

Shaking it off, he thumped Remus lightly on the shoulder. "Ready?" He could feel the moon and knew it would be time, soon. "I usually shift out behind Hagrid's hut. It's a bitch in the winter," he added with a wink before he slid off the bench to stand. "From there I usually prowl through the forest. I have a few favorite paths to run ... guess I could show you lot."
