RP: Quidditch Practices
Characters: Lily E, Kevin
Time/Date: Just before lunch, Saturday October 1
Location: Hogwarts Pitch
Warnings/Rating: None
Summary: Lily stops in to watch the Gryffindors practice
Status: Complete

Lily had come to the school to work on a couple of potions, but when she realized the Gryffindors were on the pitch ... she thought she should go watch. For her granddaughter, of course. The fact that James and Sirius were out on the pitch was irrelevant. She did sort of want to talk to Remus if he was perhaps observing, but it wasn't anything crucial.

Making her way along the bleachers, she settled herself down where she had a decent view of the practice field. Her eyes drifted over them, but it was easy enough to pick out her ... her former husband. Emerald eyes lingered on James, watching as he flew around the pitch. It was all right though. Better this way. He had his mates, and his son was all grown up, and she ...

... she was learning how to cope with living with a man she was trying not to have feelings for.

Lily wondered if Remus knew about Tonks yet. If Tonks knew about Teddy. If there was going to be any sort of family things over holidays, though she could just imagine how awkward that would be.

Her eyes shifted over the others present in the bleachers. She recognized a couple of the professors, saw a few students. She even saw Tuney's granddaughter, and she studied the girl's back for a moment. That made her want to seek out Petunia, to reconnect with that part of her life as well, but that was something best left alone. Petunia wouldn't understand, or if she did ... it wouldn't be easy to see her sister so very young.

One of the fliers shot by her section of the stands, and a sort of soft, sad smile touched Lily's lips. What would it have been like if she'd come back their age? If she was in school along with them? If she was watching this as a student?

But ... it was probably for the best this way, wasn't it?

Lily watched as the captain called the team together, shouting instructions before he sent them back out and the balls came into active play for a practice skirmish. Lily leaned back a little, content enough to watch, to ponder, to chat with anyone who ventured over to chat with her.

Glad enough for the shift in topic, Lily nodded. "I can keep an eye out for any new ones we get in, or ... let Mr Fisher know and he can watch for anything interesting, if you'd like." She really did like that about the store - they never said no to people hunting for books, and Relic always seemed to know where to get really interesting or unique books.

Emerald eyes drifted back to the pitch, but it looked like they were bringing things in. Which was probably just as well; she really should get to work on the potions she'd come here to work on.

Stray thoughts niggled the back of her mind, but she pushed them away - along with the curious hope that was peeking around in light of the ... possible news. Which was silly, of course.

"I'd appreciate that, thanks," he agreed, glad that she seemed able to move easily past his slip up. It wasn't that big of a deal, he supposed, and he decided to put it out of his mind.

When he noticed that the practice seemed to be winding down, he sighed and turned to smile at Lily, "Suppose I should get back to work. It was nice to meet you though and maybe I'll be seeing you at the bookstore," he said as he pushed up to his feet.

"You're welcome," Lily said with a light smile. Nodding to his sentiment, she smiled. "Heading back into the castle myself if you'd care to walk me in?" she teased a little as she stood up herself.

Emerald eyes flicked back to the pitch, but from this angle she couldn't really see them as they walked into the changing rooms. She wondered if James had noticed her here, and sort of hoped not. She didn't want to stir anything up that was best left dormant.

He laughed quietly, "Of course. I'd much rather escort you than walk a few steps ahead of or behind you," he agreed teasingly. They'd had enough awkward for the day, he didn't need to add to it.

Smiling, Kevin waited until she was ready and then made his way back to the castle with her. It had been a nice break once he'd gotten over sticking his foot into his mouth.
