I LIE AWAKE AND WATCH IT ALL, IT FEELS LIKE A THOUSAND EYES
Mikhal Rasputin was an honest man.
He had only ever been an honest man. When he arrived at Xavier's his desire had always been made clear. He had no interest in the people here, even his own family caused him little want to stay. His goal was to return home, not to Russia, but to Theia Prime, to finish what he started. No one could claim that Mikhail wasn't true about his feelings on all things, or where he stood when the line was drawn in the sand. Every second he stayed trapped on Earth, was another second where that deep resentment began to build.
His family was the only bright spot in the dark recesses of his mind. But they had their own foolish weaknesses. Power was not their first priority. It was these human connections. Mikhail did not understand, and so he slowly, inevitably broke away from what should have mattered the most.
When Mikhail decided to move forward, he knew, despite his most precious desires, he wouldn't do it alone. His need for other people was tactical, strategic, economical. Pawns to be used to make sure the battle he had fought was still in play. Little did Mikhail know that Theia Prime was not how he left it.
He marched with heavy purpose down to the basement, past the labs and the medical bay. He disregarded the jet and the weapons cache. His destination was the Danger Room. For all of his disgust for training with weaker, less formidable mutants, it had given him the knowledge to the controls. And during the weekend, when distractions were high and the school suspected little, Mikhail walked into the middle of the room and spoke, "Engage with Selene Protocol."
The door closed, and the system booted up. The Danger Room could simulate almost any scenario but Mikhail wasn't here to retake death gods. He wanted what Selene had, and the system would try to replicate the power held within her hand, the crystal.
My will will be done. I am a Goddess! the copy shouted, and Mikhail assessed her with boredom. His hand shot up, the energy pulsing around him in unyielding waves. It was more than he was used to, it would be enough. The Danger Room attempted to hold the program, but the holograph of Selene's face distorted, there one moment and then gone, as the force of power was now under Mikhail's command.
The lights flickered, the power waxed and waned before finally going completely out, rendering the entire school in darkness. A rip in the dimensional space grew before Mikhail, dark and beckoning, and like a vacuum, the pull was too strong. Mikhail did not fight it though, he lifted his chin and walked right in.
But that wasn't the only portal that appeared across the school—Shatterstar, Colossus, Magik, Mimic, Chamber, Havok—those were the ones he wanted too, and drawn through the dimensional rift without warning The rest had been accidents, pulled through with little care of who, just by sheer proximity.
Mikhail would only notice, after the battle, of his error of the extras, the waste. But as he landed on the hard-packed, war-ravaged field of Theia Prime, with the Tailiv's military in combat formation not even half a klick away, his only focus was revenge. He had unfinished business with the Theia Prime general.
He reached for the tendrils of gravitational energy, and the air went sharp and bright before the ground tore up beneath them and photon canon from their blasted back in retaliation.[ OPEN to the DIMENSION TRAVELLERS. Battle will start immediately upon landing and powers are on. A selection of this group will end up taken by Tailiv's forces, via their mutation suppression devices. See subhead below for details. Don't worry, you'll have things to do there, you're not out of the plot! Eventually, rebellion forces will meet for backup and the remaining characters will retreat with them.]
