Pansy’s mouth dropped open. ‘We can’t put a body bind on her!’ she protested, slightly horrified. But her brow crinkled almost immediately as she thought, and she amended it to, ‘Well, not unless she’s about to put herself in danger….’ She thought some more and added slowly, ‘You know, I hadn’t thought about using the summoning spell on her.’ A sly look came into her eyes and she added, ‘We wouldn’t want to use it too often. And not so she can hear us. I’m pretty sure we don’t want her learning that one before she’s much older!’ All they needed was a child who’d learned to summon something like cookies any time she wanted….
Pansy smiled at her daughter, mimicking Polly’s excited grin as she bounced her. ‘You know, I looked at a broom over at Miles’ shop a couple of weeks ago, one that he designed for Daphne so she could carry Nigel with her. It doesn’t go very high, and certainly not very fast. I was thinking about getting one,’ she told Harry. ‘Although,’ she added, ‘I would think that you could use the same sort of spells on a regular broom….’ She shrugged thoughtfully. Laughing with Polly, who was still having the grandest time ever, she added, ‘I think she’d love it!’
Looking up, Pansy blinked at Harry in surprise. ‘I’d love for you to come,’ she said. She’d had a good time the last time they went. ‘Are we brave enough to take Polly or are we still pretending we’re babysitters?’ she teased. She wouldn’t take Polly if she went by herself. She just wasn’t brave enough for that. But she felt safe taking her if Harry was going to be there. He wouldn’t let anything happen to Polly.
‘Oh, that part was good,’ she admitted. They had done well, and people had enjoyed themselves. She just hadn’t had a very good time. She’d been….lonely. It was odd to think of because she was used to enjoying being able to flit from partner to partner, but that just hadn’t made her happy that night.
Frowning, she nodded slowly. She could sort of remember dancing with Percy Weasley. Wait…..
Pansy’s eyes slowly raised to Harry. He knew who she’d danced with? He’d paid attention to her? Suddenly, the gloomy depression she’d been fighting for days lifted a little, and she felt happier than she had since before the ball.
And Harry’s ex-girlfriend was getting married to someone else? Pansy felt like the entire room brightened, and her entire body felt lighter. Giving Harry a brilliant smile, she said, ‘I hope they’ll be very happy! Do you think…’ She’d been about to suggest that Harry have a party for them to celebrate. But he wouldn’t want anyone to know he was living with her. ‘Why don’t you host a party for them?’ she suggested. ‘You could use the Inn. You don’t have to tell anyone I’m not charging you for it,’ she added.
‘Or if you and Ron wanted to do it together, you could have it here. We could say I’m doing it for Ron because he wants to get away from the club,’ she added, delighted to have worked around the block.
She’d offer to have the wedding and reception there at her house if it would just get the little red-head married off quicker.
