Summary: Morag is walking home from her meeting with Cass Vaisey when she is faced with what could be a critical error. An unexpected source comes to her rescue.
Morag was slowing down as she got closer to the boat. If anybody had asked, she would have told them she was enjoying the early evening weather, but truth be known, she was feeling the weight of the growing baby more and more each day. She was humming quietly to herself, which was why she didn't hear the man behind her at first.
Blakely was one of the lowest of the low Death Eaters, set to watching what was usually a quiet road. Still, he recognized the redhead walking out of town. She was pregnant now, too. Rabastan Lestrange would be more than pleased if he could capture the Dolohov woman. He waited in the shadows for her to pass, then lunged from cover.
Reacting by reflex, Morag brushed the man's initial attack aside, throwing a strike at his neck with the edge of her hand, but the weight of the pregnancy made Morag awkward, off balance, and she didn't put any weight behind the blow. The man stumbled and took several steps before he caught his balance and turned to face her. He shook his head a few times to clear it, and reached for the wand at his belt. Morag grabbed for her own wand, then remembered leaving it on her bedside table to humor the elves.
The delay in changing the direction of her grab to the pistol high on the center of her back under her light jacket cleared Morag's head completely of any enjoyment of the evening and set her blood running cold. Whoever he was, he was fast, and would be able to get off a spell before she would be able to shoot him. Still, she didn't even think of giving up, but continued her move, trying for more speed then she knew was humanly possible.
Suddenly, Morag felt something strange from her lower torso, where the baby that would hopefully be Anna Dolohov was sheltered. Morag had felt it a few times before, knew it for what it was...Dark Magic. The last time she had felt it was when Antonin had used it when fighting with Rodolphus Lestrange. But how could Antonin be throwing a spell that felt like it was coming from inside of her?
Morag's entire body suddenly went cold as she went rigid as a statue. The baby in her womb was like a fire inside her. A horrible suspicion dawned on her.
Everything seemed to be moving in slow motion. As she tried to get to her pistol, the Death Eater's wand began to move and his mouth started to form words. Suddenly, it felt as if her body were exploding from the center outward. The Death Eater fell screaming to the ground, his body contorted into impossible angles as Morag gaped at him. Mere seconds later, everything around her erupted into flames.
Swiftly, she changed her arm's motion to her head, her finger searching for the portkey Antonin had hidden in her hair as she tried to protect the baby with one arm. She felt the grab in her mid-section almost as soon as she yanked on the device and then the sickening lurch as the portkey activated.
Moments later, she was crashing into Antonin in the cramped passageway of the Morrigan, her clothing smoking and smelling of burnt fibers, her face and exposed skin red as if sunburned. For one of the only times in her life, her knees gave way.
