Alec Lightwood had slept in for the first time in a long time. He woke up feeling beyond confused when his phone said it was after lunch. That wasn't right. Slowly he pulled himself out of bed and yanked on a pair of black jeans. His hair was a mess, but he barely noticed as he left his room rubbing at his eyes. Dreams and nightmares kept him up at night and his way to handle them was to watch movies until he literally passed out. He vaguely remembered the sky starting to lighten before he finally let his head hit a pillow.
Ugh.
He needed coffee. Maybe after coffee, he'd realize he had forgotten to put on a shirt, not that it mattered. Alec trained without a shirt on all the time so it wasn't like he was uncomfortable walking around like this. Finally, he made it into the kitchen and just kind of stared at the coffee pot. Empty. A few choice words were said as he started to hunt in the cabinets for the coffee. Everyone else always made the coffee and now he had to figure out how to do it. Sure, he had made coffee before, but that was back home. He had no clue where they had stored the coffee here.
A noise startled him and he jerked upwards, slamming the back of his head into a cabinet door. "Ow," he breathed out as he pressed a hand over the injury. He'd live, but man, that had not felt good. Alec looked behind him and saw no one so he went back to trying to make coffee. A yawn or two escaped him before he finally managed to get an actual pot of coffee started. He settled on leaning against the counter, eating cereal straight from the box, as he waited for the coffee to brew.
Damn it. He was going to have to try and get his sleep schedule back in place. Already his thoughts were going to the fact he was going to have to train later and he felt like, well, shit. All he wanted was more sleep, but he wasn't about to go back to bed. He had stuff to do around the Institute and people depended on him.
