The hiss was a bit more than he expected, and he'd back stepped when his elder had bared his teeth. Not that there was much space with the wall a half step behind him.
Brows furrowing as he went backwards though and it was almost confusing until Raphael started speaking. He would wait a moment and then take a few steps closer, sitting down on the bed beside him as he spoke about the past. Looking down at his hands for a moment, he hadn't realized just how deeply his bond had gone with Magnus. This had to hurt more than he could even imagine.
"I won't. I would never dream...of telling anyone. Any of that, Raphael. You can trust me." Silencing himself for a moment while Raphael flopped back. He didn't want to overtalk, he didn't want to piss him off, or upset him anymore than it was already. "I mean, it's no consolation compared to what you have with Magnus, but at least it isn't the one you know. The one we know. There's an actual reason for his behavior." Pausing for a moment he thought a bit harder about it before he spoke up. "My actual best friend is here, and has been here and hasn't...she's just too busy for me I guess. She was the last bit of family I felt like I had, but I guess she just sees that differently now."
He looked over to Raphael, wondering what the right thing to say was. "...You do have me. You'll have me no matter what happens in this screwed up place."
