Insanely curious, that’s what Helena was. She wasn’t sure what had been going on lately but the usual anonymous rumor mill wasn’t doing anything to squash her curiosity. But she knew Vlad was involved somehow, that much was blatantly obvious, and she made note to ask him about it when she saw him next.

The opportunity came sooner than she thought. Peter was busy, again, but she didn’t mind the last minute change to their dinner plans. This was a perfect opportunity to pay Vlad a visit. Her last had emboldened her, so much that she didn’t even think twice about going upstairs. Nor did she consider messaging or calling to see if he was busy. If he wasn’t there, he wasn’t there. But this would be a surprise. A pleasant one, she hoped.

As soon as she came to the door she knocked twice and smoothed down the folds of her clothes. And even though hardly any time had passed at all, she knocked again. She was eager. It couldn’t be helped.

	"I could tell. Women know these things," she said surely, absolutely no doubt in her voice. "And that just makes you old, it don't make me a child." He tilted his head to the side, studying her. "I still cannot quite understand your reasoning. If Helena believes I am involved with you, how would that... help things?"

The comment about him being old prompted a mere look, but the mention of Shane made his jaw clench instinctively. "I doubt he would want to step foot in my apartment, not to mention the fact that my dogs are not very fond of him." Vlad didn't like the fact that she refused to listen to him - she was, after all, in his apartment.

"If I let Shane visit, then you must agree to adhere to a few rules." He folded his arms across his chest, raising his eyebrows. God help him, he was bargaining with an eighteen year old.

"He'd step foot in here if I told him to," she said without a hint of doubt in her voice, then moved back to the subject of Helena. "It helps a woman if she gets jealous sometimes. A man too. You ain't cheating on her, if you ain't together, so she can't get mad at you for it. It'll only make her wanna claim you back," she assured with a smug grin. "I'll consider listening to your rules now."

Not if I had anything to say about it. Vlad kept that silent, however, slightly amused by how sure Boyd seemed of herself. "Helena was jealous?" He would have thought she would be disapproving, and worried more about her opinion of him... but if she was jealous, it meant she cared. "Are you suggesting that I tell her we are involved?"

She would consider - oh, she was going to try his patience quicker than he'd thought. "First of all, you will wear proper clothes at all times - if you choose not to do so at night, then ensure that when you leave the spare room you are fully dressed. Second, do not answer the door. If I happen to be asleep, please, wake me up." He paused. "The locked rooms are locked for a reason - there is no need for you to see anything pertaining to my business. Do not imply to anyone else that we are in any way involved, other than the fact that I am providing you with a temporary place to stay. Knock before entering my bedroom, and do not invite anyone over without my permission."

	The look she gave him was all arrogance and teenager, and she ignored the rules altogether and a slow smile spread on her lips. "Oh, she was jealous alright. "I assure you, Boyd, that the last thing I am trying to do is to be your father." The idea was practically foreign to him - he never planned on having children, nor could he imagine himself being a father figure to anyone.

"Thank you." The damage she'd caused with Helena still bothered him, but he realized yelling at her wouldn't solve anything. One way or another, he would show Helena that she was the one he cared about, not Boyd. "How to deal with her? Do you have any plans concerning that yet?"

	"Invite her over to dinner," Boyd said with a smile, as if it was a very easy question, one with a very easy answer. "Buy her flowers, tell her she's the prettiest thing you ever did see.
