“Cat toys?” she mused softly, but held her tongue and the rest of her questions as he continued on. He was heading to the lobby so she pressed the button, the L lighting up effortlessly. On a whim she pressed the button for 5 but still, no amount of pushing would get it to light up. She pressed 4, and 6, and still nothing. Yes, it was clear, the elevator disliked her. “It looks like I’m heading down to the lobby with you.” Walking up five flights wouldn’t be so bad.
His question caught her offguard and she frowned slightly. “Yes, I was in Russia.” She wracked her brain to think of where Sam had been. He saw her in the forest but then again she hadn’t been hiding very well. Or rather, Mina hadn’t. She had taken it upon herself to be a guard for the girls and spent all night pacing in the snow. “I’m fine, yes. Doing much better these days than right after. Thank you.” She surveyed him once more and he looked much like how she remembered him being. How she couldn’t have recognized him didn’t seem right to her. So she had to ask, “ I don’t think I saw you back there, though. You were in the woods too?”
