Who: Lotte and Anthony
What: A long overdue re-acquaintance.
Where: Rapture Park and we’ll see
When: Monday, after the Fail!Moon
Warnings: Major awkwardness.
After returning from France, James had called in to work on Lotte’s behalf, getting her out of it for the next week. She’d been grateful for it, needing the time since returning from the hospital to recuperate and get her life back in order. Between cleaning her apartment and dealing with the knowledge that Bran could hear everything below – not to mention the strange full moon – she’d been busy. Dancing again would have driven her into the ground.
Monday though, her first day back left her little different. They’d moved up a performance, moving forward in choreography that she was unaware of. She was more than a bit behind and the way her mind wandered didn’t help things – fellow dancers who she was on semi-amiable terms with hissed at her until Lotte could return to reality again. Each time she struggled to remember the purpose of all this – she needed the money, but she didn’t enjoy dancing. After everything with Bran and the voices, she could easily say she hated it. (At least, to herself she could.) She was pulled aside towards the latter half of the day and asked if she was still ill. There was only a brief pause, before Lotte assured her boss that she was fine.
The guilt trip began again. Angela went on about how lucky she was to have this job and others dancers would kill to be in her position and wasn’t it lucky that they hired her after she’d been let go from her last job? Lotte’s hands clenched and her lips pressed together, shaking her head. She apologized immediately – saying she’d back and fine tomorrow – before running for it. Lying was getting easier, thanks to Christine and in part from Diego. She didn’t know what she wanted to do other than to get out of there. How was the question that she didn’t know the answer to – for now, she could only attempt to get through it.
She took off from the studio at a run, only stopping when she got caught at a street light a few blocks later. Her gym bag was clung to as she pushed through the crowds as it changed, heading to the park near Bellum. There hadn’t been crazy things that happened there, beyond randomly bumping into Diego a few months ago. By now, Lotte could guess that it was the building’s powers that had led to that – he’d ended up living down the hall from her after all. She shook her head, adjusting her bag as she headed to the bridge. Maybe there she could think.
