GROUP DELTA GROUP LOG
Who: Group Delta
What: The Raid! Group Delta Arrival Log
Where: Chicago, IL
When: Feb. 11, 1929
Warnings: TBA
Notes: The log is now ready for tagging! Start whenever you like. See Group Delta’s Plot Post for more details! Keep in mind that this post will have comments shut down around this time tomorrow, and is only for tags during the visit to the speak. Any other logs in the following two days are yours to create.

12:01 on Saturday, June 19, Bellum’s tenants should have been asleep in their beds. Some of them, no doubt, were awake, and would have seen the flash that left them standing with fifteen of the building’s other residents, dressed in a period out of the past, in the middle of a party like no other.

TO JAIL

[This thread is ONLY for the five people who volunteered in the Group Delta Questions Post to go to jail - those five people will use this thread to flee out the front and get caught by the police. They will then be put in the back of a police car and imprisoned in two group cells (one for the men, one the women) until Monday, at which point the plot will be updated.]

When the girl came back and handed him a coat, Aiden took it warily. He pulled it on over the suit and checked the pockets for anything of interest. Not much - no weapons, no knives (his own sitting in a desk drawer back in the apartment), nothing useful. He glanced once more at the other man. Exiting out the back? If he really wanted to, then fine --

Things changed, and almost without warning. Smashing and yelling, screaming and sudden panic, the place warped into a hellhole of hysteria in a matter of seconds as the doors flew open and policemen rushed in. Aiden froze up for a half second before Helsing's hurried insistence made him grab the girl's arm and start pushing through the thronging people, heading for the door. The police were taking every entrance but the back, where they had no chance of beating the rush to get out to. So head for the front. As soon as you're out, the two of you must hurry. Stay to the shadows - they will likely be too occupied to notice you!

"Come on!" he said to her, almost yelling to be heard over the chaos, as he pulled her toward the door.

She watched him check the coat pockets with a touch of amusement on her lips, and she took the silence as an opportunity to catalog what she knew. They were in the 1920s, she had (she checked) 20 dollars in her pocket, she had none of her medicines, and she knew no one here. Somehow, this had something to do with the building (she was still going to kill Esme for not warning her), and there was an unknown woman in her head who wanted to go exploring.

She approved of the exploring part - everything else was still up for debate.

When the smashing and the yelling began, she grabbed for Aiden's hand just as soon as he grabbed for her arm. She wasn't going to argue as he pulled her. In fact, she didn't even speak, in order to keep up with him. She did, however, think at him, and it was completely unplanned. "Should we pretend to leave calmly?" she asked, her voice carrying into his mind as if she'd spoken.

Joss had been attempting a drink in a fancy glass when hell broke. Hysteria was common around her - she was used to it. She downed the rest of her drink, as Badr began yelling in fear. "Oh shut up you bitch," she muttered darkly, before slipping out of her heels. The police were already storming the area and she felt the tiniest bit of fear enter her stomach.

Good god, she hated being brought home by the police. It was a total buzzkill.

She stuck to the sides, arguing with Badr all the while, until she got to the front. There was something about the way the man and woman in the frong were pushing towards the doors that made her push towards them - she got on the man's heels, grabbing the back of his clothing. "Wait up!" Joss demanded, glancing behind her at the chaos.

Yeah. Even she wouldn't stay for that.

The voice went straight into his mind without ever passing his ears, and Aiden glanced back to see the girl still behind him. It was good advice, but at the moment he was a little lost in the general panic of the room to really register it. He was sure Helsing did, though, but the man could take his advice and stuff it.

"How did you do that?" And then someone else, another girl, grabbed at the back of his coat. Great. Two people. He didn't know whether or not she was just another person from this place or if she was another unlucky Bellum resident, but the fact remained that they had to get out, and three was harder to slip by with than two. Or one. "I don't think anybody's going to come calmly out of this! We can't waste any time!"

Lone was really unhappy about the way things were turning out. He hadn't had a drop of anything, and now the place was erupting into an extremely annoying panicked chaos. Lone was shoved into the stream of people heading toward the front, and he looked over his shoulder at Aiden, who smelled familiar, of Bellum, with a flash of iridescent canine eyes. Now able to discern through the gloom what was going on, he noticed the way the crowd was streaming out and the flash of bronze buttons and badges. Not Good. He wasn't able to stop the flow, however, and he just kept moving toward the exit.

Anya had no idea who the newcomers were, and she wasn't even certain the older man was with them. The girl, however, had a tight grip on Aiden's shirt, and Anya hoped her grip was tight, because it didn't seem that Aiden was going to stop for anyone. "How did I do what?" she asked, unknowingly projecting the question again, but dropping it a moment later.

It was starting to get warm in the press of people, and she was unbelievably grateful when Aiden maneuvered them to the door. She looked over her shoulder to ensure the woman and man were with them; they were.

Joss really didn't need a warning to keep moving and to move fast. She didn't notice the older man pass them, clinging more to the man she was holding, an arm looping through his loose one as their speed picked up. Badr shrieked over the indeceny (though with a fair amount of delight) even though she was covered by the sound of another voice in Joss' mind.

"Tell the other girl to shut up," Joss muttered at Badr. She assumed it was from the same thing, though she wasn't sure on the amounts of voices anymore. She pressed harder on the man she was clinging to, just as they got to the door. There was a cold rush of air as the doors opened and they burst outside.

Aiden was by no means claustrophobic, but the fact remained that with so many people around, he was losing control of where, exactly, he was going. The door was ahead, and he had to get there. Despite the one girl holding his hand, the other suddenly pressed too hard against his arm, he didn't mind them - they had to get out, and if he got to play hero for two people instead of one, well, he was sure Van Helsing would be smug about it.

The man ahead of him - or one of them, anyway - looked back, looked straight at him, and something went wrong with his eyes briefly. Aiden gaped even as words reached his brain without touching his ears again. There was too much here for him to focus on, too much heat and chaos. So they got to the door and it burst open and he stumbled out, nearly tripping and dragging the women with him.

Into the blazing lights of the police.

Aiden swore loudly and tried to get to his feet, tried to move, but even he knew it was probably too late.

Unfriendly hands grabbed Lone by both arms, and before he could do more than snarl at one of the men and try to repossess his arm, he was being handcuffed and hustled into the back of a sour-smelling police van, which though strangely-shaped, served the exact same function as modern police vans. Three or four other people in similar attire were already there, looking as unhappy as they could be in their inebriated states.

Deirdre had still been close to the door, enjoying the chill of the Chicago winter, when the police had burst in. The others near the door had carried her outside in their panic, right into the arms of the waiting police, who promptly arrested her. She'd been one of the first thrown in the police van, completely sober, and not in the mood to deal with the authorities in Chicago's past. She watched as the rest of the people were thrown in, only one of them, the girl she'd been talking to earlier, was familiar.

In her head, the Snow Queen kept up a quiet litany against the disrespect of being imprisoned. Deirdre couldn't help but agree, though knew that voicing such things would be of no help at the moment.

Anya knew all about arrests (they were daily events on Duval Street in the Keys), and she knew that's what this was. It didn't worry her so much, because she couldn't imagine anything happening other than everyone being placed in a cell to dry out until morning; they hadn't actually done anything wrong.

She watched the older man get dragged away, and when Aiden stumbled she gripped his hand tighter, keeping her balance (albeit with some difficulty). That didn't stop one of the policemen from grabbing her from behind and pulling her away from Aiden until her fingers slipped free of this. "No!" she yelled, hardly audible above the din. She didn't even know his name. What if they were separated? You'd find the ocean, the voice in her mind said. "Not now," she told it, as they lifted her into the police van.

She tried to get out, but they weren't having any of that, and by the time she slumped into the seat across from Lone and Deirdre she was coughing violently from the exertion.

Joss stumbled seconds after Aiden did, though a friendly good looking man caught her. Unfortunately, he was a cop. She was handcuffed and tossed to another man - not as good looking - before being passed into the van. Badr was in too much shock over the contact to say more than squeak and Joss only sighed as she landed on the floor.

"I hate how all my evenings end up like this," she said to a pair of shoes to her right. She looked up to recognize Deirdre and the old man from before. Swell. "We all from Bellum?" Knowing luck, they must be.

The police descended and Aiden was dragged away from the women, his arms wrestled behind his back even as he instinctively tried to break free. He was forced into the back of the van after all the rest, shoved onto one of the benches with a muttered curse. The metal scraped against his wrists; the cold bit straight through his skin into his bones.

Well. It figured something like this would happen to him. That building was getting decimated.

He didn't really recognize the other woman there, but apparently the girl unceremoniously dumped on the floor did, as her words made him even more irritable with the entire world and that stupid goddamn building. All of them in here, all together, all from Bellum? That place had it out for them.

"I would love to say no," Aiden said dryly, leaning his head back against the icy side of the police van. "But unfortunately, it looks that way."

"Breathe slowly," Lone advised the sickly girl across from him. "Through your nose." He leaned down to assist Joss into a sitting position next to him, grave and respectful. His eyes still gleamed with unholy light, though, and despite the fact that Akela was not commenting, neither wolf liked the idea of being chained and stuck in the van. Lone was now operating on reason, not instinct, which he found was wise when dealing with human police.

Deirdre held herself as dignified as possible as the vehicle rocked into motion, watching her fellow passengers. It seemed that they were all from the building, the way they acted labeling them as not from the current time. One thing had to be said for them, however. No one was hysterical or overreacting.

Except perhaps the girl having trouble breathing, but Deirdre believed that it might be more of a medical condition, with the way it sounded. She threw a glance at the gentleman on the seat next to her, catching a glimpse of slightly unnatural eyes, and was glad that he seemed willing to talk to the girl. She felt it wisest to let others take the lead for the moment. Instead, she simply rested her back against the frigid metal of the side of the van and waited.

Breathing slowly was always a good idea.

Anya rested her head back against the side of the van, and she did just did - breathing slowly and deeply while the van rocked, while she listened. She'd noticed Lone's eyes, though she hadn't said anything about them, and she reached out a hand and closed it on Aiden's sleeve, because he was the most familiar thing in the space.

"Has this happened before?" she asked everyone and no one. Maybe this was a regular occurrence? She was still going to kill Esme once she got home.

Though she flashed the wolf-like man a smile at being helped up, Joss' heart really wasn't into flirting or making attention. Being arrested was just tiring. She let her head flop against his shoulder, ignoring Badr again. At least she recognized Deirdre if not the others.

"Not this, other crazy shit," Joss said in a nearly bored voice. "Who're you guys? Not Dee-Dee, I know her." Kinda. She leaned a bit more on the wolf-like man, adding, "I'm Joss, I've got Badr-al-Budur the whiny pants."

"What she said," Aiden muttered, eyes closed, a headache starting to pound at the back of his skull - or maybe it was just the back of his skull, pounding against the side of the van. Either way, it hurt, and he didn't have any painkillers to deal with it. He glanced briefly at her when she took hold of his sleeve, but was quick to shut his eyes again against the lights and the cold. "Aiden. Van Helsing." People knew, anyway. Just from his name or his room number, chances were they knew. And he didn't care if they knew, really; Vlad knew, and that was the only problematic person to know. So far.

Jail. He was back in the roaring twenties, in the time of prohibition - because why else would the police crash into a bar and start arresting people like that? - and he was going to jail for being at what he now knew was a speakeasy. Great. Just great.

At least there, you will be safe. This cannot last forever; what power has sent you here is not infinite. A laugh rumbled in his skull. And now we will have plenty of time to talk!

Aiden groaned aloud, slumping forward in his seat. Time to talk. Oh, how wonderful. That was just exactly what he'd always, always wanted. And now it was coming true. Oh, joy. Oh, happy day.

"I am Lone." That was it. He didn't know anything about time travel. He didn't know about the behavior of the building before he had arrived. He didn't know where they were or how or why. It was not in his nature to debate things and suggest things. Alphas made decisions in public and in groups, they didn't talk about what they didn't know.

Deirdre's spine straightened almost to the point of being uncomfortable when Joss called her "Dee-Dee". Only her parents had ever called her that, and she wasn't about to let a complete strange do so. Especially not one that was so rude.

She didn't make a fuss over it though, getting the sense that making a fuss would only cement the horrid nickname. "My name is Deirdre." She looked at both Anya and Lone, not remembering seeing anything regarding them on the forums, and almost feeling bad that this was their introduction to the building.

"Anya, and I don't have a story. Am I right in thinking you folks think you got stories?" she asked, and she sounded incredulous. Yes, she'd been hearing a voice in her head all night, but this was the first she'd heard about stories - Van Helsing was definitely from a book.

The voice in her head made a decidedly unimpressed humpf! sound. Apparently she didn't think she was a story either.

Joss' expression brightened slightly at the mention of Aiden and Van Helsing. Badr remembered him too and gave her a mental poke on sparkling vampires. Joss shook it off, just winking at him - no real reason, really - before pushing against Lone more. Nice old dudes worked well enough for her.

"In our heads," she said. She rolled her eyes, as Badr said I'd do a better job of this then you would. "If you're hearing something, it's probably your story."

Lone, Deirdre ... finally Anya, to fit the girl he'd been with practically since getting here. And Joss. Five of them, sent to jail in a time they weren't from. Aiden looked over all of them, his expression flat, before letting his head fall again and knotting his fingers in his hair. Good god, he was tired, and this place was not helping what was now definitely a headache.

"Either literature or fable, like Hans Christian Andersen," he added to Joss', in case the others who didn't know about this situation needed some extra help. They could pick and choose from there, figure out who they were as needed. He certainly wouldn't be of any help for a while, nor did he actually want to be.

Anya's expression was decidedly what? And she would have asked precisely that, but the police van stopped and the back doors opened, and then there wasn't any time for any more questions.
