Group Xi Plot Post
The Romanovs Group Xi (ξ)
(This post has comments turned off. Please direct all plot-wide questions here and all Group Xi specific questions here.)
[OOC: Friday, June 18 - Saturday, June 19]
Day 1. March 18, 1917. About 8 PM local time
Outside Alexander Palace, Tsarskoe Selo
The group finds themselves outside a large palace in the dark of night, in a thick and merciless snow. The crowd is so thick that no one notices the newcomers, despite their sleep attire and unfamiliar appearance. The crowd is outside the gates, but the palace is visible in the distance and torch lights bring a slight glow to the frigid night air.
In the crowd, Ella, Daniel, Vlad, Helena, Nicolas, Tegan, Darcy, Luther, Will, Sam, Oliver, Jane!Vaughn, Rosalie and Joanie are all spread out, but close enough to find one another if they look. The crowd is angry, and they are yelling. It is March, 18 1917, and Nicolas, recently abdicated as Tzar of Russia, is returning home to with his family. This does not go well, but lets ignore that for now.
Grigori Rasputin's tomb has been opened and his body parts are burning in the forest beyond; the icy night wind blows his ashes over the crowd, which is growing more frenzied with every passing moment. The timeline, though familiar to those who recognize/know the locale, is not exactly right. There's magic and and there are slight deviations from what is listed in the history books.
After acclimating themselves to the cold and the strange environment, our intrepid travellers will realize something: They can hear their tales in their minds - their opinions, thoughts, voices. And they need clothing IMMEDIATELY (something warmer than modern sleepwear, to get through the evening). (Clothing and life during the time of Nicolas II)
[OOC: Sunday, June 20 - Monday, June 21]
Day 2. March 19, 1917. About 7 am local time
St. Petersberg, Tsarskoe Selo
In the morning, the crowd has thinned, and the local authorities are forcing everyone who is still present off the palace grounds (unless they have a reason to be there). The next two days need to be spent finding shelter and food (and some exploring wouldn't go amiss). Everyone is tense, and there is a virtual manhunt for anyone who is attempting to aid the former Tzar and his family; everyone is a suspect and armed soldiers roam the streets.
(Inside Alexander Palace)
On the second day/night, Will and Oliver, if they are spotted, will be mistaken for palace kitchen/dining workers, and they will be taken to the palace.
→ Joanie and Sam, if they are spotted, will be taken to the palace stables, where they will be put to work lathering down the horses of the newly arrived dignitaries that will be staying in the castle.
→ If Helena is spotted in the crowd, she will be mistaken for the governess of one of the Romanov children (Anastasia), and she will also be taken to the palace, to Anastasia's bedroom.
→ If Rosalie, Ella and/or Jane!Vaughn are spotted they will be mistaken for ladies of the Empress and also taken to the palace, to the Empress' dressing rooms.
→ Daniel, Vlad and Luther will be locked up in Aleksei's playroom for questioning, before being released. On the way out, they will encounter the small, sickly boy, who asks for their help in saving the family.
→ Nicolas, Tegan. Sebastian, Bernadette and Darcy will be forced to remain in to town alone, as they have no business so close to the castle.
(Town, in this case, is just outside of St. Petersburg, and it has all the amenities of a town in 1917, including various public bars, an inn, stables, a house of ill-repute, a communal bath, various boarding houses and fish markets, a cemetery and a church. It is a working town, and doesn't have any single-homes. You have to go to the outlying areas for those, though there are a few landowners in the area.)
