Who: Shane, Vlad, Ella
What: Shane is full of the crazy and needs to be knocked the hell out. And locked up. With vines. Hilarity ensues, I'm sure, elsewhere.
Where: 601, 905
When: After this
Warnings: TBA

Shane hadn't been feeling well. It went back before the talk he'd had with Vaughn, the talk that had mostly consisted of threats to get Boyd's money back, but it had only served to make things worse, highlight what was already wrong.

His thoughts felt scatter shot by the time he talked to Boyd, and the idea that he might have followed through on the threats he'd made, threats on an innocent woman's life, just sent him deeper. Nothing made sense anymore. Boyd would be safe now, though, and he clung tightly to that. It was all he had. If Boyd was safe, it had been worth it, no matter how sick he was in the pit of his stomach, no matter how strong that twisting hunger in him to seek some clarity through measured brutality felt.

When someone knocked, it had to be Boyd. He wasn't thinking straight, as she'd put it-if he had been, he would never have asked her to come. All he knew was that he wanted her safe, and he wanted her with him. He'd been so scared for her, so bone-deep scared, and everyone had refused to help. Now, though, she was going to be fine. It would be alright.

So he answered the door without looking to see who it was, as sure that Boyd would be standing outside as he was that things were going to be better, now.

Vlad moved into action immediately after his conversation with Ella. He gave Helena some excuse of having a business crisis, telling her he would be back soon and not to worry. He hadn't had proper time to be prepared, so he had to make do with what he already had. He had tape, and he had rope; both kept in his office, the one room Helena never went in. For good measure he took a gun, sliding it under his belt and stuffing the other items in a small bag before leaving.

He took the elevator, holding his breath the entire time and exhaling in relief when it brought him to the sixth floor without trouble. Time was of the essence here, adrenaline urging him forward even if he still wasn't sure why he was doing this, beyond the satisfaction of being the one to lock Shane up. Once he reached 601 he wasted no time in knocking, preparing himself to deliver the crucial blow as soon as the door opened.

He paused for only a second, just enough time to find his target and make sure his aim was true. Vlad's face was nothing but a blank mask of stone as he brought his right hand back and forward, throwing almost every bit of power he possessed into the blow to Shane's jaw.

Maybe if he'd been thinking more clearly, he would have registered Vlad's face fast enough to dodge the punch. That didn't happen. He had a split second of seeing Vlad's face and feeling the anger in him change direction before the punch connected. He was out before he hit the floor.

Ella was waiting at the door to 905 in precisely 10 minutes, as Vlad had asked her to be. Daniel, luckily, was in the shower, and she very much hoped she would be back up to R1 before he noticed her gone. In fact, it was that very fear (him finding her missing, and what it would do to his mental state) that she was counting on to make this work.

She stepped into 905, where Shane was unconscious on the floor, and she made quick work of collecting anything she didn't want damaged. She cast a mournful look at her beloved collection of books, wishing there was another way, hoping Shane didn't destroy them. She locked the room with the flowers (Home was already in R1), and she did the same to the Master bedroom.

Then, she closed her eyes, and she focused.

Time passed, and the longer she was unsuccessful, the more she worried and worried about Daniel. By the time she opened her eyes, the windows had a layer of brambles two inches thick. It put her in the mind of Shane being Sleeping Beauty, and she followed Vlad into the hallway and erected a wall of briers near the door.

"I don't know how long they'll hold," she told him uncertainly, then she looked up at the roof. "I better go before he misses me," she said.

And she was gone in a swirl of skirts.

Getting Shane to 905 wasn't easy, considering that the man's dead weight was rather heavy, but Vlad managed to get him to his feet and half-drag, half-carry him to the elevator. It took them to the eighth floor first, refusing to budge, but after a few swift kicks it squealed back into motion and stopped at the ninth. Vlad dragged him down the hall to 905, hoping that no one had caught side of him as he pulled Shane inside and dropped him on the floor. There was no time to soundproof the apartment, but he didn't dwell on it.

In the moments before Ella arrived, he searched every drawer and cabinet in the kitchen, sweeping all the knives and forks and even relatively sharp objects into his bag.

He'd just finished writing a note when Ella arrived - explaining to Shane that he was here 'for his own good', that it was only temporary and if he wanted to know 'who' then all he needed to do was think a little. Vlad nodded a silent greeting and waited, having already done what he could with the tape - he'd used it on the windows and the doorknob in an attempt to keep it from being turned - and now it was up to her and her vines.

He became less and less certain as the minutes passed, but eventually it worked and he gathered his things together, leaving the apartment and taping the outside doorknob as well before stepping back to let her do the outside as well.

"Hopefully long enough," Vlad told her, watching her leave with a sigh. He lingered for a few moments, wishing they'd had more time, before turning and making his way back to the penthouse.
