Entry tags:black forest witch, dracula

Who: Vlad and Vaughn
What: Matters concerning money
Where: Le Croquembouche
When: No more than fifteen minutes after this
Warnings: None, I don't think

Vlad wasn't exactly sure why Vaughn wanted to see him all of a sudden, but he had a few ideas, particularly considering the fact that she told him to bring his checkbook. He told Helena he needed to meet someone for a business matter that had suddenly sprung up, and within minutes he was out the door and headed down to the lobby, checkbook in his right pocket.

He didn't know if she would go as herself or someone completely different, so he stayed alert and conscious of everyone around him on the way, and even more so once he arrived at the coffee shop. The line wasn't very long so he ordered himself a medium black coffee, taking a seat at one of the empty tables before letting his gaze sweep over the other customers.

Vlad's coffee was more of an excuse, but he brought it to his lips every so often to maintain the illusion that he was here for nothing more than a casual outing. His gaze was quick and never lingered, catching the barest glimpse of claw marks beneath the black fabric. It must have frustrated the overgrown canine to no end that Vaughn had gotten away without any serious injuries.

"I wanted to know if I should be prepared to have him scratching at my door like an annoying pet, whining about the money and his girl." He didn't say Boyd's name, and he didn't want to give her any indication that his hatred for Shane was in no way similar to his attitude towards the redhead. "It is quite a large amount, but I have no interest in becoming involved with the kind of people who are currently very interested in getting it back."

He was silent for a few moments before answering. "Vladislav. No one aside from my father has ever called me that, however, and the last time it was used I was merely a child."

Her eyebrows skewed into high, thin arches when he explained how he had not heard the full extension of his name since he was a child. "Is that your way of telling me not to call you Vladislav?" She would anyway, of course.

Vaughn beheaded twin packets of sugar and dumped their shards into her tea before giving it another heavy stir. "Shane gave me reason to believe that he will ask you about the money, yes. Whether he will go up to your door, I cannot say. He wants confirmation tomorrow, and while I would have given it to him myself, I do not plan to be in Bellum after tonight." Not to mention that she had no real desire to face Shane(& his claws) in person.

He didn't tell her that the only reason he hated the name was because it was his father who chose to use it, and even now he could hear the way he said it - that was worst of all. Vlad didn't particularly care whether she used it or not, although part of it had to do with the fact that she would likely use it if she wanted to, despite what he would prefer. "No, it is simply my way of telling you that no one has called me that for quite some time."

The fact that Shane planned on contacting him was expected, and he wouldn't put it past the man to suspect that he might keep the money. He could, after all, be very stupid when he wanted to be. When Vaughn mentioned that she didn't plan on being in Bellum, however, his eyebrows rose in a silent question. "Is this a temporary departure?"

She sank back against the strict wooden back of her chair with a lapse in posture like it was the most comfortable furniture to ever be found. "Temporary? Perhaps, but I hope not." She sighed into her cup before taking another savoring sip of her tea while eyeing Vladislav from beyond the rim.

"Shane has made it known that if things continue as they have, that he will take it upon himself to destroy the people I love. So I'm taking this time to get out of New York, and leaving the money as a parting gift that shows I am truly gone and have no intentions of destroying the redheaded child." She gestured vaguely with her fingers before setting the cup back to the table. Her attention wavered outside for a moment before she stood.

"It's been a pleasure, Vlad. Maybe I'll see you in another life." Or, she'd see him while living somebody else's life. Yes, she liked the idea of that very much. The plan was already in motion. And with one last, forlorn glance in the direction of Bellum Letale, the witch slipped out the door of the coffee shop and blended into the wavering throng of pedestrians, before getting lost in the sea of faces completely..
