Vlad turned away dismissively, making a mental note to ensure that his next watch partner would be someone far more preferable than this. That Diego character on the twelfth floor was friendly enough, and he thought that he would be able to tolerate and perhaps even enjoy his presence for the three or so hours that they would be patrolling. He also decided that under no circumstances would Helena and Shane be paired together - not if he had anything to say about it.
He had to bite back a snarl when Shane moved closer - even though it wasn't by much, he still didn't like it. He didn't want that wolf anywhere near him, a sentiment shared by Dracula. This wolf was not one under his control, and therefore he had no use for him.
His surprise was only slight, since it was only natural for Shane to have an exceptional sense of smell. "The woman?" Vlad simply shook his head and laughed, a mocking sound not very different from Dracula's. "Really, Shane, you may as well not talk at all if you are simply going to speak nonsense all night." Vlad headed towards the stairs, making sure the other man never left his line of vision.
