Who: Everyone!
What: Transformation Plot Post
Where: All over.
When: Moonrise on the 28th.
Warnings: All kinds, I expect.

The moon slipped up past the horizon full, round, and white. Its effects had been predicted, though perhaps not fully believed by the residents of the building.

Moonlight streamed through the windows of the building, washing the city in pale light. For the tenants of Bellum Letale, where ever they were, scattered in the night, it had a tangible effect.

Change rippled through the building, much as it had over a month before. But this was not simply a twitch in the fabric of things, gone in the blink of an eye. It was a rolling change, gradual as the moonrise, tangible, and, in some cases, likely terrifying in its inexorability. People became what they were, what they ought to have been, and what they weren't.

The moon was up, and trouble was about to run high in Bellum.

[Notes: Remember that the events of last month still apply-I.E, those who became vampires will be vampires when they take on their fable form, the Frog Prince will still be human after being turned back last plot, etc. Whether the fables are aware a month has passed since they were last around is up to the players. This log posted with the anon account so that the mods do not wake up tomorrow with 100 notifications in their gmail. Go forth and plot!]

His heart was beating faster than he could have imagined, which he tried to chalk up to seeing a friggin mermaid of all things but really, he knew somehow it had nothing to do with that. Forcing her arm around him so they were both upright-ish, Robert took the moment to peer over his shoulder at nothing. But there was something wasn't there? At least, in his mind, just because he couldn't see the danger didn't mean there wasn't any nearby. Or he was talking out of his ass. Maybe both.

Though he was still in a position to hold onto their conversation, which surprised him just a bit Somehow the sea comment made more sense than what came before it. "I'm sorry, you smell something?" He sniffed the air, his face turning to the wary expression of 'I don't believe you.' Whatever she thought she smelled, it must have been the side effect of the tail. "Where do you live?" he asked, changing topics to something more sensible. Mostly, to get her out of the all-seeing lobby.

Speaking to a human was something the young princess had only wished for herself, never imagining that it could ever be fulfilled, and that it had finally become a reality delighted her greatly. What puzzled her, however, was his inability to smell what had been a constant distraction on her senses. "Yes;" the look on her face matched the frankness of her voice. "It is the most delicious thing I have ever smelled!" Did humans have a weaker sense of smell than mermaids, or was it just this one? Surely, it didn't matter if they couldn't smell at all, if they were all as kind and handsome as this human was.

There was silence following the strange man's question while the little mermaid watched at him with pure adoration while all thoughts of the prince and this Mark Wahlberg that the lady inside her head seemed so fond of were forgotten. After what was probably too long and too awkward a pause, the mermaid, remembering herself, realized how rude she was being to stare so shamelessly. For a brief moment, the little mermaid had poised herself to ask him to return her the ocean so that she may go back to her sisters but, at the screaming panic of Avery, provided him with an answer she didn't entirely understand. "805," she said, eyes bright and dreamy, fantastical smile still lingering on her lips.

It seemed the full moon's antics poised to leave him a nervous pile of mess with an uncharacteristic amount of emotion, making the girl's fish tail one of the only things at the moment he could cling onto as comforting fact. It didn't help that she kept insisting on some invisible delicious scent in the air. Perhaps her transformation into mermaidness had the side effect of affecting her senses as well.

What also didn't help was the prickly feeling along the back of his neck that he had to resist scratching at. Nor was the girl's seemingly way too long of a stare at his face when all he had asked was a simple question. Did he have something on there? Could she see something he couldn't? What was it? Well, if he really stopped to think about it, she was giving him these weird looks. It was as if she found him intriguing. Or delicious. At that thought he almost dropped her but held on tightly. No sense in freaking out, it was probably just a trick of the light. "I know it's not the best of ideas, but we could take the elevator. Eight flights is too high especially since you can't walk." He already began a half hobble walk toward the lift, hoping she would just go along with it.

The little mermaid had no idea what an elevator was, but she trusted this man completely. Someone so dazzling and wonderful wouldn't lead her astray, would he? A voice in the back of her head told her it was the large box nestled within the metal gates and the mermaid was reaffirmed of this man's brilliance. "Yes, yes that would be fine," she agreed wholeheartedly as she kicked her tail in a futile attempt to assist him. The part of her that wasn't admiring every follicle of hair on the man's body was apologetic. Surely, carrying an immobile mermaid to safety was no easy task and his generosity would have to be repaid. The mermaid vaguely wondered what a human would do with oysters if receiving them as a gift. They had no tail to clasp them onto.

"I am indebted to your kindness, sir." It was then that it occurred to her that she had no idea what this handsome stranger's name was. How horrible, to meet who was surely the most glorious human to have ever existed and to not even know his name. "May I ask you your name?"

It was quite the struggle, but with the aid of the mermaid girl kicking up her tail fin, the two managed to get into the elevator. For a brief moment he considered running out and getting his bag of dog items, but Robert didn't trust the elevator enough to stay open and not move at all while he tried retrieving his items, and she couldn't keep the door open while flopped down in the elevator. He would have to get them after dropping her off in her apartment. If the items were stolen, oh well. The dog seemed to like taking up space on his bed anyway.

The girl was still giving him weird looks as he kept her upright, struggling to push button 8 and waiting for the elevator doors to close. His toe tapped nervously as he realized he was trapped in an enclosed space with a girl who was--was she swooning? Dear lord. No one prepared him for this. "Uh, it's Robert." No Rob, no Robbie, definitely no Robmeister. He never had been one for nicknames. Now, what was he supposed to respond with? Ah yes. "What's yours?" he asked.

"I am a princess of the ocean, the daughter of the great Sea King. I am the Little Mermaid." It was rather long-winded, especially in comparison to the short response her Robert had given, but the grand title rolled eloquently off her tongue in a practiced manner as she bowed her head and waved her arm in a clumsy attempt at a sea-curtsy. It wasn't nearly as graceful or beautiful as it would have been underwater, the mermaid realized with mild dismay, and a twinge of color the shade of coral crept up her neck. This certainly wasn't the impression she wanted to give to her hero.

Within the quiet confinement of the elevator, the mermaid subconsciously allowed her head to roll onto her savior's shoulder and near the crook of his neck, where the aroma of gingerbread and incredible attraction she felt towards him increased tenfold. Her nails created crescent-shaped marks on Robert's arms as she clung to him in a failed attempt to clear her head. It had occurred to a part of her that rolling out from being under this influence could be as simple as moving her head away, but the princess found this task impossible. "The aroma you're emitting is extraordinary."

Robert didn't quite know how to respond to her rather verbose introduction, nor how to react at her insistence that she was the Little Mermaid, seemingly straight out of the VHS tapes his mother made him watch. Given that she happened to have a fish tail, he had trouble finding a reason to gently break her of the idea that she might be a fictional character. He wisely kept his mouth shut on that angle for now.

Unlike the way Robert normally was, he didn't flinch or try to twist his way out of the Mermaid's amorous grasp. Mostly because it was much easier to pretend that this entire event wasn't happening rather than acknowledging that something weird was going on and he might be the cause. Either way, as the elevator shuddered and began to crank its way up, he took the time to glance around, eying every corner and wondering if there were cameras present but no one could see them on purpose. Suspicious. He was distracted at the slight pain in his arm from her holding on and the strange compliment she offered him. "Thanks, I think," he responded. "Wait, you say I smell like gingerbread?"

The mermaid had no idea what gingerbread was, but if the taste of it matched the smell, she would gladly die a thousand deaths to have it for every meal of her life. Just as she had opened her mouth to tell him exactly this, a sudden voice in the back of her mind realized with an exclamatory yes, that was exactly what he smelled like.

"Now that you mention it," her voice trailed off as she took yet another inhale, unable to move her head from where it nestled on his shoulder. "But there's something else, too."

There was a gnawing hunger growing inside her, although she couldn't pinpoint where in her body it was, and an older, wiser part of her suspected that this enticing aroma was behind it. There was a moment of silence before she let out whimper of frustration. She wasn't sure if she wanted bite him or kiss him and the idea of both was mortifying.

Robert felt himself mentally pulling further away from the strange girl who seemed intent on either fondling him or something else entirely. Inwardly he prayed the elevator would play nice for once and just let the two of them get to her floor without any issue. While the old machine was definitely lifting them up, the high amount of shudders and creaks made him wonder if they wouldn't just plummet and die in a horrible firey death on the first floor. At least it would end this awkward moment between the two of them.

Inwardly shuddering at her frustrated noise, the elevator thankfully dinged at level eight. Then decided to wait a minute until opening, in which he barely refrained from making an irritated noise of his own. Hoisting the mermaid carefully back against his shoulders, he helped them make the trek back to her apartment while smiling nervously, glancing around in case anyone was watching and then stopping at the door she said was hers. "Do you have a key?" he asked, realizing he probably should have asked that right away down in the lobby.

There was a sigh of relief from the princess when the metal doors opened. Hopefully this meant that her journey was coming to an end and that she would be able to relax in peace without this scent hammering away at every sense in her body. Still, she has to admit, she felt a tremendous amount of sorrow and loss at the idea that she would be separated from her Robert.

After a what could only be viewed as comical session of Robert hobbling down the hallway with the princess kicking her tail in sync with his steps to the best of her ability, they arrived at what the mermaid was delighted to recognize as a door labelled with the numbers eight, zero, and five. This must be where Avery lived. What a strange looking place! But the sea princess was sure she would grow to love it.

Th mermaid stared at Robert blankly for a split second before realization dawned slowly on her face. "Yes!" she exclaimed as she rummaged through the sack that has been resting on her shoulder, "Yes, I do!". She pulled a small, shiny, silver thing attached to colorful trinkets out of her bag. So this was a key. It took half a minute of searching through Avery's mind for the princess to understand the intricacies of opening a lock, but she finally uocked the door after a while of fumbling with they key and the keyhole with a proud smile on her face.
