Aiden watched the rune-casting with interest. He'd never seen it done before; he was curious about it, as well as somewhat skeptical. Before this whole mess he would have watched with interested disbelief. Now, he was ... more open to unusual possibilities. She worked quickly but without haste. There were no excess movements; she read the stones she drew without any ceremony, just placing them neatly on the table with a careful look.
Wary. Restraint? Her words weren't good ones, and he scowled as she spoke, jaw clenching briefly. Yes, of course he was divided. The poor, unhappy soul. It wasn't him who was at fault, it was Dracula - but Aiden, oh, Aiden knew better. This building had unleashed what was inside all of them. Before that, what exactly could be blamed?
"It is," he said, with a little more conviction than he'd expected. "He dies in the end. Pays for everything he did." Even though the book made mention of a brief look of respite on Dracula's face as he was finally killed (freed from the curse, or so it said), Aiden recalled that this wasn't the book. That there were differences now. (That there had been a Van Helsing here before him.)
