With efficiency, Katya smoothed a white cloth over the top of her desk. She shook up the bag of stones in her hand, then loosened the tie holding them closed. Reaching in, she pulled out several runes, one at a time, and placed them on the table. When she had removed four, she stopped, peering at them. After a moment's thought, she pulled out one more and set it on the table slightly apart from the other.
Shifting in her chair, she studied the runes as a whole. "These say to be wary," she told him, pointing to the first two. "And this, restraint. I think your Dracula, he will be trying for control but it will not last. He is very strong in mind and it is dividing him. There is Dracula, and there is who he is now." She paused before turning to Aiden. "You will, of course, fight him if the need is presenting itself. Is it in the stories that Dracula is to be dying?"
