Fables Plot Public Post!
Who: Public
What: The Open Post for Public Threading for the Epic Fable Plot
Where: Throughout the building.
When: 12:01
Warnings: Any number of crazy things could end up in here.
Notes: Alright! This post is for public threads only, and will be run party style. Anyone can jump into a thread at any time--just use your judgment! Feel free to hop around, go to different parts of the building, and mingle through the madness.

12:01. The beginning of a new day, just broken in, still fresh. Most of the building was sleeping, as decent people ought to be at such an hour.

The building, down at its foundations, was restless. A storm had been gathering for the past week, in its joints and its doorways, in its windows and its keyholes. 12:01, the storm broke over Bellum.

It was as if the building stretched, yawned, shook itself. There was a shudder in reality, as if the air itself was nothing more than a funhouse mirror. Faster than you could snap your fingers and the thing was done, set into motion before the darkest hours of the morning had yet come around.

A twitch, a snap, a static shock.

And then the changes started.

((OOC: Alright guys, go crazy! Feel free to post your location in the header of your comment so people can do a quick visual scan for the right comment and the right location. Mingle! Chat! Fight! Tackle one another!))

He was just about to argue that lack of rulers could lead to chaos, when she proved the point with the building itself. She was frowning but didn't seem otherwise too concerned about this problem. "Surely something could be done about this," he pondered, wondering if this was part of his purpose. If his princess did live in these lawless lands, then she would need protecting. He could and would do just that, once they found her. Now inside he was distracted as he looked around. "This is your castle?" he asked, clearly humbled that she was nice enough to take a stranger into her home.

"Probably. But it would be up to the owner and I don't actually know who that is." She shrugged. "You get kind of used to it." Rosalie set him down on the counter and brought her laptop over. "I'm going to ask if there are any princesses, okay? I can't promise anything and it might take a while for people to respond, but going door-to-door seems like it might be...dangerous. So we should try this way first." Although she glanced at him to see if it seemed acceptable, she started typing anyway.

"It's not a castle," she grinned at him. Rosalie was getting that a lot today. It was nice, but it wasn't even close. "But I do live here."

Stefan seemed to frown slightly, as best as his features could muster. "That does not sound like something one should get used to," but he kept his voice to low mutters. Once she started typing, he hopped closer and stopping beside it to peer at the screen. He couldn't quite make out what she was doing, or writing, but somehow he knew this was a communication tool or sorts. How he knew this, or how this item did that, were not clear. He just assume magic. So very handy, magic. "Are there any?" he asked quickly and curiously as soon as there was a lull in her typing.

Once she said it wasn't a castle he blinked and awareness seemed to spread over his face. So it wasn't one, how hadn't he seen it before? But just as quickly as the thought came, it started to fade and he shook his head. He wasn't going to argue with her. "It is lovely," he reassured her. "Thank you for bringing me here."

After a lot of deleting and rewriting, Rosalie finally posted. "It really might take a while," she told Stephan, sounding apologetic. "I don't know how long this thing might last. The blackout only lasted a couple hours, and it's already been over seven." Her face turned worried for a second as she thought about what might happen if it didn't end and the changes to her friends were permanent. Daniel would turn back into a human eventually, she thought, since Ella was already half in love with him. Vlad would be stuck trying to kill all of his friends. She didn't know if Boyd or Ella would even remember her.

Trying not to look too sad, she turned back to the frog. "In the meantime, is there anything else you would suggest?" Right now, Rosalie just wanted to do something that would take her mind off of all of this.

Stefan himself, despite his excitement, was less perturbed by a long time frame. He couldn't recall how long he had been a frog, but it had felt like a while. His life as a man seemed very distant, so surely he had been a frog for some time. A little longer wouldn't hurt him too badly.

When she turned her attention back to him he hopped back to look at her properly. "I... I don't know..." Was there anything else that she should know to help his plight. "I only woke a little before we met. As soon as I saw the bed was empty I left in search of a princess." He remembered the feel of the sun on his skin and he fidgeted uncomfortably. "Fair Rosalie, is there a pond nearby that I may swim in? A cool well perhaps?"

Enough people seemed to be able to use a computer, but no one had any useful information about a princess. "Boyd- my friend- she says that maybe it doesn't have to be your princess. But I don't know exactly how it would work then." Her voice was distracted, and she was frowning at the computer screen like she didn't like what it was telling her at all. Silly, reckless Boyd was going to get herself killed.

"A pond? Not around here, unless you want to go all of the way down to Central Park." She tilted her head at him thoughtfully. "How much room do you need? I have a bathtub," she offered him. Besides not feeling much like walking all of the way down to the park, she didn't quite trust the water not to poison him either.

The idea that it could be someone other than a princess never occurred to him and he was too distracted by this notion to see her frowning at her computer. "So it could be anyone then..." Stefan wasn't sure if that helped matters any. Not that princesses were easy to convince in the first place, but now the one he needed could be anyone at all? This was going to take a while. "Are there any other fair maidens in this building? Any that you think could be the I seek?"

"Not too much room," he reassured her. "Just a bit of water to cool myself. A bath would be more than enough," he could picture a bath in his head and that was much bigger than what he needed. "Even a large bowl would helpful. I do not wish to press upon your hospitality anymore than I already have."

"I don't know if anyone-" she started. "It might just have to be a princess, just not one specific to your story. And we've got-" she glanced at the screen- "a queen and a duchess, but no princesses." Abandoning the laptop for the moment, she walked over to the sink and plugged the drain before turning the water on. "Will this work?"

The sink was large, larger than a bowl at least. Rosalie leaned against the counter and watched it fill up with water. "What is it exactly that she has to do?" she inquired slowly. "Because I can try, maybe, but I can't promise it will work. I'm just the only princess I know right now."

Stefan gave a quick hop as high as he could to try to see the sink. "It looks more than enough, thank you." Her question made him pause as he really tried to think more on his curse. "I need to find a companion," that much he was sure of. "Someone who can accept me as I am." There was another thought that had been nagging at him and he finally felt comfortable enough to voice it. "She should be able to prove in some manner that my form does not bother her. A token of her affection." A beat. "Like a kiss." He was thankful that he couldn't quite smirk. He was sure it would only earn him a hard slap.

Oh. Oh. Of course. Rosalie knew she should have known that. Wasn't it the basis of hundreds of stories? The princess kissed the frog and then he turned back into a man and they lived happily-ever-after. She quickly waved him into the sink as she considered it.

She had said that she would help him. Promised, really. And a kiss wasn't such a big deal. Rosalie was fairly indiscriminate about who she kissed among humans. She lifted her chin slightly. If this was how his spell would be broken, then she would do it. "Finish your swim," she told him (because he might as well be clean), "and then we can give it a try."

Stefan didn't need to be told twice she waved him into the sink. He jumped in with little fanfare, only a small splash as he dove into to water. He swam around quietly while she was deep in thought and the halting all his movements once he heard heard her words. There was nothing but the silence as he just stared at her from the water. "Really?" Not that he was complaining of course. Rosalie was beautiful and kind and he had hoped she was his princess from the moment he saw her. But after her insisting that it had to be someone else, he let the thought slip away. And now she was agreeing to give it a try.

He jumped out of the water as quickly as he could, hopping slightly to side to try to shake it off as best he could. He didn't think she'd want him all slimy. "Are you sure? You do not have to if you do not wish to."

If Rosalie had her doubts about kissing him, very few of them centered around his being a frog. Mostly, she was thinking about his princess. His real one. Because no matter what Boyd said, Stephan had to have one somewhere, even if she wasn't at Bellum yet. Was it wrong to kiss somebody else's-- prince? She still wasn't sure that Stephan was a prince, but it hardly seemed important at the moment.

"I'm sure," she told him with a quick smile. "I don't mind, really. It's better than not trying and not knowing and you still being stuck." Because that was really what it came down to. Stephan was here and the princess wasn't and there were vampires and wolves running around so the sooner he was a man again, the better.

Before she could think about it any longer, Rosalie scooped the frog up and pecked his skin lightly, in the general location of the mouth although he hadn't specified, exactly.

She had a very good point. It wouldn't hurt to try and he was never going to turn down a kiss. At least she was taking it in stride and it only furthered his high opinion of her. She quickly picked him up and he held his breath as she gave him a quick kiss. There was a split second of nothing and then it seemed there was a light that obscured his own vision of Rosalie. He felt his weight pressing down on her hand as his body changed, grew, grew, grew in what seemed like the span of a second. When he could finally see Rosalie again he let out a happy laugh. He raised his hands (hands!) and let out another whoop of excitement. "I knew it had to be you! I knew it." He couldn't help but reach over to try cup her face once more, wanting to give her a celebratory kiss. If she was shocked, he didn't seem to realize it. Nor did he notice his complete lack of clothing.

For one awful moment, there had been nothing, and Rosalie had closed her eyes, disappointed. But then there was the sound of feet hitting the floor and the warmth of a body between her and the counter and when she quickly snapped them back open, all she could see was his happy, human face. She smiled into the kiss when he gave it to her, enjoying the feel of success and real, soft lips.

Several seconds later, she drew back to look at him, her eyes following the hand on her face down to bare shoulders. She blinked and the surprise must have registered on her face. It made sense, vaguely, that he wasn't wearing any clothes, but she hadn't thought about it at all before she had kissed him. "Um." Rosalie averted her eyes. "I'll be right back." Almost without thinking, she touched his cheek softly and smiled, but she just as quickly remembered herself and darted away into her bedroom.

She was back in less than thirty seconds, holding a white dress shirt and clean boxers, both clearly men's. "Here you go." She offered them to him before turning around and leaning against the counter so that Stephan could change.

Rosalie didn't voice what she was thinking: that whatever he might have thought, he still had a princess somewhere and it wasn't her.

There was a moment of confusion and almost crushing disappointment when she averted her eyes. Had he been too forward? He couldn't have helped it really. He had just been so happy. But she reassured him she would be right back and a grin broke out once more when she touched his cheek.

When she returned with clothes he laughed sheepishly and took them, quickly trying to put them on. "I apologize," he said as he pulled the shirt over his shoulders. Not that he could have known but he had made her uncomfortable. Even if it was for a second, he was sorry for it. Once clothed he came up behind her and gave her another kiss on the cheek. "Are you not happy as well?" It was more rhetorical than anything else. He assumed she felt the same ecstatic relief that he did. This was a joyous occasion, wasn't it?

"Not your fault," Rosalie told him. Ignoring the warm spot on her cheek where he had kissed it, she turned back around and beamed, a little too brightly perhaps, but a happy enough smile all the same. "Of course I'm happy!" Her voice matched her face, earnest and enthusiastic enough to pass off the half-truth of it.

He was standing very close to her and Rosalie found herself forgetting about the princess anyway. He was here and she had broken the curse and wasn't he so nice anyhow? Leaning towards him, into his chest, she kissed him again, sweetly, eyelashes fluttering shut for just the briefest of moments. After only a couple seconds, she seemed to realize what she was doing, because she pulled back and looked slightly guilty. "I'm sorry," she told him, "I just-- are you hungry?" Rosalie changed topics abruptly, cheeks flushing pink. She was surprised to find that she herself was hungry; the muffin had been hours ago now.

She kept distracting him with smiles and kisses, not even giving him a moment to notice the slightest changes in her expressions. It didn't matter. She said she was happy, and she seemed happy. That was all that he needed. Except perhaps food, the sound of a rumbling stomach answering his question before his mouth could. "Let us eat," Stefan agreed and let her lead. It didn't matter what they did anymore. He was happy, she was his, and if they never left this kitchen today he wouldn't mind one bit.

Rosalie poured some coffee into a filter and set it to brew. It took longer than usual to do because she kept glancing back at Stephan, who was standing at the counter, smiling, looking so happy and-

Don't, she had to tell herself sternly. She couldn't start getting...ideas. Rosalie walked over to the fridge. Another quick smile over her shoulder. "I can't cook," she apologized, "but I bought a bag of croissants yesterday, and there's leftover Thai and yogurt and some other stuff. You can have whatever you want."
