Fables Plot Public Post!
Who: Public
What: The Open Post for Public Threading for the Epic Fable Plot
Where: Throughout the building.
When: 12:01
Warnings: Any number of crazy things could end up in here.
Notes: Alright! This post is for public threads only, and will be run party style. Anyone can jump into a thread at any time--just use your judgment! Feel free to hop around, go to different parts of the building, and mingle through the madness.

12:01. The beginning of a new day, just broken in, still fresh. Most of the building was sleeping, as decent people ought to be at such an hour.

The building, down at its foundations, was restless. A storm had been gathering for the past week, in its joints and its doorways, in its windows and its keyholes. 12:01, the storm broke over Bellum.

It was as if the building stretched, yawned, shook itself. There was a shudder in reality, as if the air itself was nothing more than a funhouse mirror. Faster than you could snap your fingers and the thing was done, set into motion before the darkest hours of the morning had yet come around.

A twitch, a snap, a static shock.

And then the changes started.

((OOC: Alright guys, go crazy! Feel free to post your location in the header of your comment so people can do a quick visual scan for the right comment and the right location. Mingle! Chat! Fight! Tackle one another!))

"I'm supposed to be," she admitted, going to wash her hands, then closing the door. "Grandmother and Mother think I should be, but I ain't." She climbed onto the bed and knelt in the center. "See, the path is boring. You ain't boring so much. Though you do need a bath, but we can worry about that come morning."

He sat just inside the doorway, not bothering to pay any attention to her 'bath' remark. "Of course they do. I killed them." He gave her a wolf's grin. Their testimony should be evidence enough.

"You quit that grinnin,'" she said instantly. "It ain't nothin' to be proud of. You wanna stay inside where it's warm, or you wanna go right back out there with your tails between your legs?" she asked.

She would kick him out if he didn't behave. She would.

He moved toward the bed, looking up at her. "Why not?" He didn't seem to think she could possibly have a good answer for that question.

"Because I cared about them, and it ain't nice to kill things people care about," she said, because that was obviously the answer.

He sat at the edge of the bed, cocking his head to the side. "But I had to eat," he said plainly, resting his chin on the edge of the bed.

"You could of asked for food, you fool wolf," she said, and she thought he looked like a harmless, black fuzzy thing with his chin on the edge of her bed like that. She scooted forward, and she rubbed his nose.

He didn't move away. Instead, he staunchly attempted to pretend that it wasn't a nice feeling, being rubbed. Her scent washed over him again, intense without being cloying. Everything was so confused about her in his head. He had a vague memory of eating her, he was fairly sure, but thinking too much about it was uncomfortable, which made no sense. And he knew he'd killed her grandmother and mother, but couldn't remember eating them. Nothing meshed properly tonight. Nothing was in its right place. "You don't ask for food," he said. "You hunt it." Red just didn't get how things worked.

"Have you ever tried asking?" she demanded, smug grin firmly settling on her lips when he didn't run away and didn't eat her. Mother and Grandmother were crying and fluttering their hands, and she rolled her eyes at them. Couldn't they see the puppy was harmless?

She yawned sleepily, and she scooted back on the bed and curled up on her pillow. "You can sleep at the foot of the bed," she told him. "And if you try to eat me, I'll scream for the woodsman." This was said with another yawn.

She didn't think she actually had a woodsman, but that wasn't important.

He slid his muzzle off the bed. Woodsman. The very word sparked echoes of anger, fear, violence. He had another flashing, intense urge to just eat the girl, take short-term satisfaction over the potential of a long-term food source.

He watched her, curled on her side. She wouldn't suspect it, not now. And she had tricked him, toyed with him.

But she'd also offered him food, if only to save her own skin. That uncomfortable, prickling sensation was back, and he didn't like it in the least. A memory cropped up, unbidden, of Red laughing--and of enjoying the sound, relief at her happiness.

He watched her, ears flattened back against his head. What was this girl, anyway?

He moved toward the foot of the bed, eyes fixed on her until he finally settled down on the floor, curling up. Well, he was tired anyway. He could still eat her, at some point. Tomorrow. Any time he wanted, any time she was no longer useful.
