Who: Ella and Lotte
What: Demonstrations and Discussions
Where: Briefly in 1206, then 905
When: Yesterday afternoon
Warnings: Probably none
Lotte hadn't slept well the night before, thoughts keeping her awake. Too much was going on - between her fight with James, getting fired, and the fairy tale nonsense, she could barely keep up with things. She didn't even have work anymore, which was no excuse. She simply felt tired, even when sleeping through the whole day, as she had done after getting fired.
But after her conversations with Rosalie and Ella, Lotte didn't sleep. She stayed up, flipping channels on the television until two a.m. when anything playing were things she wouldn't watch. She didn't need cop dramas, recaps on the news, and things which no person should watch - even at that hour. Nothing took her mind off of things, so she shut it off before hunting for a box stashed under her bed.
Her collection of tapes hadn't been pulled out since her battle of music with Rupert and Evie. Under her bed, they collected dust bunnies, along with a few pairs of socks and old dance shoes which had escaped her notice. Lotte frowned when she pulled the box out, before rifling through it for a tape of Andrew Lloyd Webber's music. Not instrumentals, as she preferred, but it had a copy of Starlight Express, that she particularly liked. Of course, like any collection of his works, there were several songs from his best selling musical.
She debated it, the voices, and what had been said before heading to the kitchen to play it. It took her three hours to get through three songs, pausing the tape to step away - make tea, use the restroom, clear her mind, before returning. There was a feeling of wrongness beyond betraying her father by listening to a musical he had considered trash. Things weren't right, they felt off. Too romanticized - perhaps too contrived.
She fell asleep on the kitchen table around six, after hunting for another prescription. It was only luck that caused her to wake at four p.m., realizing she was going to miss Ella and her meeting with her if she slept much longer. The confirmation over whether she was crazy or not, if the voices were linked to Ella's 'magic' or not. If magic really did exist.
She showered, changed, and grabbed some toast before heading down. On a whim, she took her empty prescription bottle in her purse. She had run out after the instance with the dark voice and couldn't call Valerie for help, as she wasn't speaking to her either. It wasn't like the prescription was up to date, either but Lotte felt uneasy without it, as if she'd lost a security blanket. She didn't want a repeat of sixth grade after all.
At a quarter past five, Lotte was outside 905 knocking on the door tentatively. "Ella? It's Lotte."
