A little internet forum, isn't this cute? I wonder if this is the kind of thing my assistant was telling me about - lol cats or something. Are we supposed to type normally, or badly here?

Hello, everybody. My name is Brian - I just moved in on the third floor yesterday. These apartments are really nice here. I wonder why the rent is so reasonable. Do we have cockroaches?

Is this where I talk about myself? I'm a dentist - been practicing for about 15 years now. I tend to work long hours, and I get up pretty early, so to the people on the third floor - don't be surprised if you hear me coming and going at weird hours. I'm on call most weekends for dental emergencies. Which reminds me - if anybody has a tooth problem, please don't hesitate to contact me. I promise I'm nothing like that guy from Little Shop of Horrors.

That's about it for me. I look forward to meeting all of you.

- Brian

Fangs? Damnit, Tom warned me about those vampire kids.

I can perform extractions, yes. The, uh, size and shape of the tooth doesn't really matter.

Who? Is he having a problem? Tell him to contact me if he is, I'd be happy to give him our secretary's number to set up an appointment.

Problem is an understatement.

I am P3 - my name is Vlad, and I most certainly do not need anything extracted. I would suggest that you do not take anything 204 says seriously, because she is simply a child with nothing better to do with her time.

Is this some kind of weird joke or something?

Nice to meet you, Vlad. Okay then. I was really confused, I have to say. I'm glad you're doing fine.

Confusing you was probably how she decided to amuse herself today. As I said, nothing she ever says can be taken seriously.

Oh, okay. I thought I had gotten hazing out of the way when I got through my first year of dental school. That's good to know. But I guess it's only normal to pick on the new guy. I hope I'll be able to earn my stripes here.

If you keep falling for things like this, then I doubt it I'm sure you will. Everyone does, sooner or later. I doubt it will take very long for you to feel as though you have lived here forever.

Thank you for the vote of confidence. This was a mistake. I didn't need to move, I should have just stopped wasting money on those damn prescriptions and expensive doctors visits and therapies.

Hi Brian - I'm Hannah. I think you're the first dentist to move in, actually; at least as long as I've been here. You have pretty good timing, too. You just missed one of our more... interesting nights.

Anyway, welcome to the building.

Hello, Hannah. Am I, really? Well I hope I give dentists a good name here.

Interesting nights? You have events in this building, then? Like a normal neighborhood would? What, was it a cookout or something?

Thanks for the welcome.

At least you get to set the standard for any other dentists who might show up in the future.

You could definitely call them events, although they're not quite like those found in a normal neighborhood, though. I'm probably doing a really bad job of explaining this - it's just that... things happen here sometimes. I'm sure you'll experience it for yourself soon enough.

I am getting punked.

Okay, then. I guess I'll get to see all this firsthand sometime. I knew it, they have a roach problem. Damnit, it's too late to break my lease without losing money.

Oliver. Another doctor, but of the medical sort instead of dentistry.

A lot of M.D.'s don't consider dental to be a real doctorate. To be fair, some of my fellows feel the same about medical doctors.

Nice to meet you, Oliver.

Since it's not really my place to judge what does and and doesn't make a "real" doctor, I'll just accept you for what you are.

I'm sure you'll have an.... interesting stay about this place.

[info]veridicality

Different is a... good word to use, I think. I'm sure you'll get used to it in no time.

My only bit of advice at this point would be... to always be prepared for anything and everything.

I hope so.

I was prepared for that the first time I woke up in a Motel Six with a bag of marijuana and a pair of women's underwear in my pocket. Well I was never a boyscout, but I think I can manage. Thanks for the advice.

Hello, Brian! I'm Sherri in 205, and I'm sorry my little sister (the one asking about the fang extraction) is already trying to traumatize you. Don't even try to make sense of her, she doesn't want you to.

I just moved here, myself, and I haven't found a dentist (or any other doctors) in the city yet; how convenient, having one move in! It definitely saves me a search.

This building is definitely pretty unique, but it's not [...] bad. I hope you like it here!

Hi there, Sherri. It's okay, I'm a big brother and I understand how little siblings can be. I'll just take your advice.

If you'd like, I can give you the number to the practice where I work. I'm an endodontist, so I usually just do specialty work, but lately I've been doing a lot of general exams as well. All of the dentists and hygienists there are good, so you can't go wrong with any one of them.

Yeah, I'm starting to think I should cancel my subscription to People after moving in here.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]withinastory

It's really something that only another older sibling could understand.

That would be great! It's pretty hard to get recommendations when you don't know many people in the city and that's why I haven't gone in such a long time but I'm not going to tell a dentist that.

Don't worry, you'll get the hang of how things work in no time. Hopefully now everything will be quiet for a while There are some nice people here who won't mind helping out, and I don't know my way around quite yet but if there's anything I can help you with, let me know!

Oh I promise, I'm not a psychopath. I'd never huff nitrous oxide, for one. What do you mean, "our villains"? Though his song is pretty catchy. One of the other dentists in my practice was playing it one day. Half our patients knew the words - it was pretty funny.

Thank you. It's nice to meet you, Lotte.

We try to make it that way. Most people are edgy about going to the dentist, so we do our best to make it less scary.

Cheaper rent. A few things. Needed a change, I think. And it's closer to the practice, which is great when I'm on call so much.
