Ben. Nice to meet you.

Mind if I ask what that whole being a fairy tale thing is like?

You mean you believe it, even if you ain't had it happen to you? Or are you messing with me?

To be honest with you, I'm having some trouble wrapping my mind around it. But something's going on. I'd have to be blind or illiterate not to notice. I figure it's probably a good idea to look in to whatever all this is, whether I believe it or not.

Alright.

It's really strange. You wake up, and you're suddenly not yourself anymore. Someone else is making all the choices and doing the driving, and you don't even realize it until they've left. You can still influence them some, but not very much. Well, for me at least. I think it's different for everyone. But there wasn't any warning, and it just came on.

Most folks had things leading up to it, though, warnings that let them know what they'd be. I saw my dead grandmother lots, and the wolf got claws, and Sleeping Beauty fell asleep lots, and the witch could change forms.

You got anything strange, honey?

That doesn't sound very appealing. At all. Do you know if all those warning symptoms whatever they are started at the same time?

Me? I don't think so, unless feeling kind of sick has something to do with a tale. I'm probably too new. I've only been here for a little over a week now.

I could see my grandmother way before I moved into Bellum, Ben. So no, they didn't all start at once.

Feeling sick?

Oh. The building might not be responsible like I thought, then. Huh.

It's nothing exciting. You ever had migraine auras?

I don't think it's the building's doing, honey. Explain what a migraine aura is?

Maybe not. Anyway, an aura? It's tricky to explain. Sort of your body's way of telling you you're about to be knocked flat on your ass within the next hour or so. It's different for everybody, but usually it messes with your mood, appetite, vision. Mine does all that and makes me hypersensitive to everything. Sometimes the migraines don't actually come, though.

Know of any characters with busted heads? If not, I'm safe.

I ain't real book smart, but I'm sure we can find out, Ben. That sounds real uncomfortable. I'm sorry. When'd these start?

There's no need for all that. It sounds dramatic, but it's not a big deal. I guess they started a while ago.

How long have you been here, by the way?

Feels like forever, but really about six months. The people really are real sweet for the most part. Don't let all the recent ruckus scare you off.

And it is a big deal. Don't go minimizing.

But Honest, doc.

That's a tough one. I'm in pretty high demand already, but I might be able to book an extra show.

Make them box seats, and you got yourself an audience.

Only thing is, there's nothing to refund if the show is bad. I hope you're not a critic.
