“When he’s old enough, he’ll know that for all intents and purposes he’s always had a father,” Alicia smiled as small flashes of that night at the Hallowe’en party flickered through her mind making her smile turn secret before she continued, “and that there was nothing sordid about the way he came to be.” Taking half a moment to break out of her reverie, Alicia finally looked directly back at Cass. “Harry’s always been able to make the headlines, just by considering checking out a girl’s bum. Besides, I like him too much to want him to be the cause of the scandal that’ll draw their attention.” With bit of a self sarcastic chuckle she shrugged. “I know, I know, but really, I prefer things like that to happen to people I don’t like, and that is what you call selfish.”
Noticing how Cass had finished off his beer Alicia gestured to the empty glass. “Like I promised earlier, supper’s on me tonight, so would you like another beer, or something else?” The offer was left open as she leaned back, unconsciously mimicking Cass’ motions. “Your talents in acting,” she said knowing that she was once again possibly entering a dangerous area. “They have to do with your family, don’t they?”
