Gearing Up For 2008...
Executive Decision Made… and I think this is a way to make it all work properly for everyone *grin*


Bring Back the Porn was born from a comment made after the LJ censorship issues went, in my opinion, completely over the top. It was a way for Fandom to take back what was ours. After reading all of the comments and results of the poll and adding my view into the mix, I have decided that Bring Back the Porn will run annually on 1 September. To run it biannually would diminish the reason it was started.

BBtP will continue to be done in the free-for-all manner as it started. The only guidelines to adhere to will be posting a link to [info]bbtp_challenge for fics/art/music/etc posted on 1 September. No prompts, no word counts, no specific fandom. It was fun and that was the goal.

Now, that said, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed having such a large collection of fandoms participating in a joint event. That was huge, people. *g* I like the idea of having a fandom wide fest in March that (a) would be similar to BBtP, (b) would keep fostering the interfandom friendships, and (c) would help in keeping the idea of BBtP out there. To that end, I have created [info]ides_of_march.

Unlike [info]bbtp_challenge, where the posts were almost all hard R to NC17, [info]ides_of_march will be a little less focused on the porn. Not that I'll turn porn away, mind. *cheeky grin* The posting frenzy for [info]ides_of_march is… well, yeah, March 15th. The actual details still have to be hammered out.

There will be more information about [info]ides_of_march out soon. I just wanted everyone to know what was going on and such. *goes back to masterlisting 200 porny fics now*

I'm thinking like you... no detailed master list. There is just no way to do it and not be crazy since there are so many fandoms/pairings/crossovers. But something... I'll figure that out today, I suppose.

I was thinking about this more last night, and I think it's very smart to hold the BBTP event as a separate annual event. Just think how amazing it will be in 2008, when the IJ community has grown even bigger (which I have no doubt it will) and we can truly celebrate a year of creating the kind of community we want here. It'll be remarkable!

The more I thought about it last night, the more I liked it. I'm hoping that with the proper amount of lead in/pimp time that March 15 will be huge. And next year's BBTP even bigger. *g* Plus both have their own place. BBTP was more of a stand where I see Ides as a place to get together and play. *shrugs* We'll see.

I like the twice yearly with [info]bbtp_challenge less structured and [info]ides_of_march handled a little bit differently. That's a great idea. We can have our cake and eat it too.
