“You don’t need to cook if you don’t want to!” Aiden said hurriedly. The last thing he wanted to do was make Alexander uncomfortable on his account and thinking back over their conversation it would be easy to see how maybe Alexander had thought Aiden was pushing for him to do something like this. Aiden had been the one who’d brought cooking up after all. “If you hold on till I get there I could always make us something or we could share this hamper. Mmm, smoke salmon and capers? Very rich for breakfast and maybe some of these fancy preserves on toast?”
He’d feel better sharing this breakfast with someone who’d appreciate it as much as he knew he would. It struck him then like he was speaking to Alexander as if they’d been dating a while, rather than having had one – rather aborted – first date. It was so easy, so relaxed. This was just the kind of relationship he needed.
“A Rolls-Royce? I...well, I shall feel very spoiled indeed.”
