Aiden was late into work, but that wasn't the end of the world given the front page he'd put together the night before and he'd earned his rest. He was only an hour late but even so he wanted to be at the office, wanted the praise for what he'd done. He might have ruined his budding relationship with Alexander but maybe working harder was going to be better for him in the long run.
He reached his desk, laughing as he saw the hamper on the middle of it. "Who left this?" He called out to one of the passing copy-boys but they just shrugged. Aiden draped in coat on the back of his chair and looked it over, searching for a card. He didn't imagine his editor had started giving things like this out and he hardly had any secret admirers.
He turned the card over, a slow smile spreading over his face. Not secret no. Apparently he hadn't managed to scare Alexander away the other night.
He picked up the phone on his desk, dialing the number. "Hello, I'd like to speak to Alexander Moretti please. Tell him it's Aiden."
