Megan tensed when he touched her, and flinched when he said he loved her. She couldn't believe him, not when he'd been away for so long. Not having him in her life - thinking he'd been dead - had driven her to things she'd never imagined she's be capable of. The only thing she had ever wanted out of life was to get married, move somewhere nice and raise a family. It would have been perfect. But she wasn't sure she could go back to being that person now. She'd channeled all her love for Stanley into hate for Moretti and she wasn't certain she could feel anything for the man standing in her apartment now rather than the memory she had so carefully taken care of.
"I've changed, Stanley." She said quietly, brushing his hand from her shoulder. She'd wanted to hear his voice for such a long time, wanted the words he was saying now but she wasn't ready for this. "Will you tell me how you escaped at least?"
