Aiden’s eyes widened and he shook his head. “No! I didn’t know that.” As far as he was aware no-one knew that. He’d not seen it in any papers, any of the journals he read and none of his usual sources had told him anything of the sort. If he’d been hoping to scoop something no-one knew then this really was it. Aiden dug his nails into the palm of his hand. He wanted so badly to excuse himself and phone back to the office, tell them what he’d discovered but that was going to burn more bridges then Aiden already had.
He swallowed, wishing he had some water to clear his throat and cool down the bright red blush that flashed across his cheeks.
“As I said, six years on and off. I mean...I was away for nearly a year to take care of James.” Aiden said, aware of what Mr. Price was implying about him and his relationship with Alexander. This had been what he’d feared, that if he accepted Alexander’s invitation of a date the body of work he’d built up, the years he’d put into his job would mean nothing. Everyone would start assuming Aiden had got where he had by sleeping his way to the top and that was laughable considering how far from the top he really was.
