Her eyes narrowed as he hinted at their secrets and she focused her gaze on his tie. God that thing was ugly, she thought disdainfully, and it was so obvious what she was trying to do and it made her feel all the more pathetic. She couldn't decide whether it was the look on his face, resigned, weary, or the careless shrug he gave her that made her feel worse. So that was it? Audrey felt like they were breaking up all over again.
Needless to say, she wasn't pleased. "So that's it?" and she hated herself for using such a broken tone. Get it together, Audrey, she thought. Her mouth snapped shut and Audrey cleared her throat, her eyes glinting sharply and coldly when she looked up again, fixing him with a steely glare. "You won't even fight for--" she choked on the word me and instead said, "this. Typical." She gave him a heartless shrug right back, crossing an arm over her chest.
