The steel strut was almost as wide as a man and certainly three times as tall. When it moved, it moved with the sound of a tree being forced up by it's roots- a horrible roaring crash with an undeniable metalic dangerous scream as the strain on the metal became too much. It was hot, heavy, and it's fall grew quicker and more unstopable very moment.
He was not quick enough to scoop the young man out of the way, and to push him would send him closer to the dangerous firey building and the falling burning wreakage that fell to the ground, metal brick and shards of glass. He had no choice but to grab the falling metal closer to the flames, then at least he could slow it enough for the boy to get out of the way.
It fell into his arms, his calculation on it's speed and destination correct, but he had underestimated it's weight. His muscles strained and his teeth clenched, knuckles white as he gripped the hot metal as best he could, and slowly, his steps a huge effort, began to push the two-storey high beam back towards the building, forcing the weakened metal to bend back on itself, keeping it out of the way of the roadside.
"Is there anyone inside, Mr Adams?" He called - no Super in Axis could help but recognise him, "Stay back! The fire service will be here soon!" He said, the sirens already to be heard, growing louder as they drew closer.
