Aiden looked up at the man, surprised again by the gentle touch and by how worried Alexander seemed. He knew he had almost died, although now, away from the building, he couldn't believe he had really been in any such danger, but he still found it strange that someone he had known for such a short space of time would care so greatly.
"You shouldn't have tried to." He scolded quietly. "It was dangerous. I...Alexander, I'm sorry, I have to get these photographs to the news paper." He was sorry, very, to be missing out on the wonderful evening Alexander had promised him but even so it suited him to be able to run away, to not get too close. Getting close to people was dangerous, and apparently more likely to hurt him than a building exploding.
