He watched her intently as she spoke, studying her features and the tone in her voice while she did so. He was honestly curious after her first words in response, the way that she seemed to unsure about it..but had complete faith that she made the right choice at the same time. He would probably be able to reflect later on the issue and determine her age simply from the manner of her speech as well as her physical projection while she did so.
She had a strong sense of justice and apparent responsibility (or entitlement) regarding her abilities. Stanley had always been decided about right and wrong, it was something his mother had instilled in him. But then again, he hadn't always been capable of handling the consequences of his action. He had ended many lives that day in the lab..the same day he had gotten his abilities. He allowed himself a few seconds to pour over the day, the fact that it was the last day he ever had while being 'normal'.
But it had openned him up to the whole new world before him, he wasn't just an intelligent man anymore. He could out-think five super computers and still have time to do extra work. Not to mention the fact that he could circle the globe in a minute if he decided it was necessary. Gravity and many physical laws bent before him, because at the speeds he reached..science got a little cloudy. So, the question remained: Was the old life worth reclaiming or should it be left in the dust?
However, her words shocked him. Not as much from the sudden intensity in them (though the sudden change in attitude was startling)..but mostly because of how true they were. He could feel the energy building in him and he reached up to grip the bridge of his nose, the roof they were on suddenly shook as if it had been placed on shifting sand before settling. Best to expend it now, before the resonance built up to dangerous levels.
Just as before, he suddenly slipped into the realm of superspeed and carefully pulled her up into his arms before zipping off and down the side of the building. Once they reached street level on an empty side-street, he halted and set her down. Pulling his hood up wordlessly before stepping back and walking down the sidewalk casually.
