Characters: Cassie & Stanley Setting: Outside a convenience store Content: Work Safe Summary: Firefly (Cassie) tries to save the day, Stanley helps out
It wasn't the best neighborhood, that was for certain, but it was precisely that reason that brought Cassie to the convenience store. There was always a robber to thwart, a chance to use her powers for good around here. She tried her best to blend into shadows along the backside of the store, waiting to hear a scream in the distance or an alarm sound nearby.
After the first hour, she started to get bored, lighting up her hand and watching it fade back into the darkness. She contemplated moving to another spot or heading back home, but determined that she had found a prime stake-out spot for spying on petty criminals. Her patience was rewarded thirty minutes later when she heard shouting from inside the store. Readjusting her mask to help shield her identity, she rushed towards the doors, not even considering what she'd find inside.
She pushed the door open, slightly aglow and assessed the situation. The clerk, an older woman, was emptying the cash register drawers, while a young man pointed a gun at her. Both turned as the door opened, staring at Cassie. She bit down on her lip, trying to decide how best to diffuse the situation. The robber grunted at her to leave and the woman went back to emptying the register drawers into a bag.
"You can't just do this sort of thing!" Cassie shouted, slightly put out by the fact that both the clerk and the robber didn't react to her arrival. She stepped into the store further. "I won't stand for it!"
The robber looked back over at her and rolled his eyes, mumbling about how he didn't really want to shoot a kid. Cassie realized the situation could quickly become dangerous and it left her with few options. Despite the fact that she'd disorient the very person she was trying to protect as well as the robber, she opted to utilize her bioluminescence to it's fullest. Glowing brightly she went in to kick her opponent, hopefully getting him to drop his weapon. Unfortunately, the man reacted to being blinded by a glowing girl by firing shots at random. Panicked, as the glass in the storefront shattered, Cassie involuntarily fired off a photon blast knocking out several shelves.
"Sorry!" She shouted to the clerk. Cassie wished she had better control over her abilities as she grabbed the robber by his arm, hoping to wrestle the gun from him somehow.
