“Like our other citizens, I would expect the Supers to use limited force to defend themselves when in danger. We don’t prosecute those who fight back currently. Naturally, that would be on a sliding scale when it comes to Supers. If a man with unlimited strength breaks bones then that is not an acceptable use of force. The point is to subdue your attacker long enough to get away.” Simone said carefully, trying to make sure her words could not be twisted – not only by Alistair Lane – but also by anyone watching. The last thing she needed was a Superhero who thought reasonable force was setting someone on fire. There needed to be checks and balances.
“Of course,” She said smoothly. “In the event of a mugging I’d like to remind everyone – Superhero or not – that the best thing you can do is stay calm, hand over your cash and phones, and then get to the nearest safe place where the police can be contacted. Placing oneself in unnecessary danger is pointless and material possessions can be replaced.”
The last thing she needed was a headline suggestion that she’d told people to attack muggers.
