For the next hour or so, the Three Musketeers traveled back the way they had come.. slowly moving through the relentless assault of rain and wind in an effort to make it back to Old Murphy's 'humble' abode before the storm abated. Those were the terms. Find the flower. Retrieve the flower. Bring it to her before the rain stopped. There weren't any other tests or trials. No more wolves, mutated animals, or (fake?) tornadoes. None of them were injured, but all of them were certainly exhausted --not only from the physical travels, but also from the emotional turmoil they had been presented with.
It was not easy watching friends and loved ones fend off danger. Even if that danger had simply been in their minds.
As the old woman's place came into view, Caitlin started to notice that her memories were strange. She recalled that they had all met at her apartment at the beginning of the evening, for example, but she couldn't remember what time that had been. She couldn't remember when they had left. She knew that they had encountered wolves.. but she couldn't remember where. Had it been at the train station? Or wait.. had they found the flower at the bus station? And was the flower red and white? Or orange and white? The details were hazy, and it was starting to freak her out a little bit. She hoped it was merely the exhaustion creeping in and taking over. And for that reason alone, she decided not to mention it to her friends.
God forbid that Old Murphy had screwed with her brain in order to make her able to control her powers. Ugh. That thought made her nose scrunch up, because despite her immediate reverence for the woman.. Cait wasn't stupid. Old Murphy was dangerous. And if yanking her memories made it easier for those powers to get a grip on themselves.. well, she wouldn't have put it past the Mother for using that possibility. She wasn't sure she wanted control if that was the payment, though. Gain control, but lose memories? No, thank you. Crap. She hoped it was just tiredness..
The redhead turned to her friends as they neared the steps, blowing water off her forehead for what seemed like the millionth time. "We ready? The precious cargo still in-tact?" She asked, glancing at both her currently-feline friend and the beautiful techie standing next to him.
