It was going poorly, to say the least. Why did they insist on doing this to each other? Eva wished fervently that it would stop. She thought she saw a flash of anger in Vianna that Kaelyn must have somehow drawn--what was it she'd said? These women were terrifying; it was so far over her head.
Vianna didn't seem to have any intention of letting Kaelyn go. Eva bit her lip. "Oh, Vianna, surely we can manage for ourselves, Lady Kaelyn must have a great many things to attend to," she said quickly, with a nervous smile. "And--I should really be getting back to Emberlei. Dayne made me promise to visit her often," she added, hoping that this would get Vianna's attention. "Perhaps--perhaps you might come with me? Ember loves company, but I'm afraid I'm rather boring for her. All of us would appreciate it so much," she said hopefully. She was hopeful--that they leave. And there's a chance Vianna might reveal a little more about what she wants of us, me and Dayne. She wasn't at all sure that marriage was what Vianna was after with her sudden niceness--but after what Ember had said, maybe it wasn't too bad a guess.
