A Dragon’s Comfort

Where: His bedroom

He’d left the feast early. He’d brooded the entire time. Aenyris could not blame him, but now as she walked the halls of Summerhall toward his expansive chambers, she knew that as a Targaryen, she had to make him feel better. He could not rule in tears, and they would not find the killer if they spend their time brooding behind walls of stone and doors of oak and redwood.
At his door she did not knock. She knew he was inside and part of her wanted to surprise him. The room was dark, but she did not expect he was sleeping. He was sitting by the window, looking at the stars, his back turned to her. Her slippers made no sound as she approached him from behind, and gently wrapped her arms around his neck in a soft hug. “Jaehaerys,” she whispered, her voice warm and open. “Come, away from the window. Come hold me.”
