The passage between the suite of rooms she occupied and those of the king had been somewhat neglected during Paegon’s reign, but the spiders looked big enough to have seen five kings pass by. Coming to the hidden door that marked the end of her trip, Elia brushed dust from her shoulders and shuddered at the thought of going back through the maze of cobwebs and narrow stairs that honeycombed the walls of the keep. It was all very well to explore them as a child, but it did little for one's peace of mind to know for certain just how many of them there were. She remembered her words to Harper at the party and grimaced- there probably were skeletons somewhere in the passages, though she doubted they were those of kings.
Elia knocked three times at the wall before she slid the panel away and stepped into the room beyond. Jaehaerys knew to expect her, but it would be absolutely impossible to explain if she accidentally surprised him with a blade in his hand.
