It was a lovely day, and even if the ground was still a bit damp it was a small price to pay for the opportunity to get out of the castle after the interminable rain. Elia and her attendant ladies-in-waiting and assorted friends had plotted this outing for most of the week and were eager to run their horses along the paths in the wood and pause in sunny clearings to weave flower crowns and wager ridiculously on cards- not money as that was far too easy, no they would wager truths and dares and long drinks of the viciously potent blue Qartheen liquor. All of it safely out from under the watchful eyes of those older, wiser and more sober.
There were two bards and their intruments along to amuse the company should they tire of birdsongs, and plenty of food and maids to serve it besides. Elia herself had broken into her brother's store of Dornish wines to add something less potent than the warlocks' brew to the mix, but it was going to be most entertaining in her estimation to see who could sit a horse on the return trip.
Elia herself had quickly dismounted once they found a promising clearing and set about ensuring that the blankets were spread and the refreshments were being distributed. Those still set on riding were ahorse but the rest were making themselves comfortable as the wines were uncorked and the first hands of cards were dealt.
She took a hand of cards and examined them critically. Her thoughts on her hand were interrupted by a voice and she looked up to see who was approaching.
