[They'd laid in bed together when they were done, twining limbs and fingers. She'd shown him a softer side of herself than even he had seen before.

Though that part of his brain that had come from another universe was screaming at him that he should feel something else, something about being a traitor and a cheater and that he should hang all the harder onto those who only felt like a dream, the rest of him just felt at peace.

He'd fallen asleep with his arms around her body and his face kissed by her red hair.

It was the first time since coming here he'd slept dreamlessly. No ashes, no dust.

But he woke up in bed alone.

He twisted to reach onto the nightstand and grab his device to send her a text.]
