Hey, I'm sure you're busy right now, but I've got an unofficial thing I could use your help with. Shouldn't take too long but I think you've got the right skills and talents for it, and if you don't, maybe you can tell me who does. Could we maybe meet up and talk about it? I'd appreciate any pointers you can give me even if it's not something you can do yourself. Thanks.

Doctor Strange, Wanda and I need to interview a prisoner on the Raft. She's coming to make sure the prisoner isn't under a magical influence of some sort. In the interest of making sure she's safe, and feels safe, would it be possible for you to open a portal out to the raft, and open a return portal when we're finished? While I'd like to get this done in the near future, it's not so time-sensitive that it can't wait on your work.

I'd appreciate if you'd let me know if you can do this and if so, when you could be available. Thanks.

Kind of sensitive? I need to interview a prisoner and--I don't want you to whammy the prisoner or anything--but I need to know whether the prisoner is under some kind of influence. Like magical influence. Is that something you think you could see, or sense?

This is not something that I expect to hold up in a court. This is a fact-finding expedition, more of a SHIELD-type thing than official military. I'm interested in finding out what the prisoner knows and using it to prevent further problems from their allies.

	I'm arranging an official visit and there will be full documentation and a proper paper trail for all involved. And I'm going to be with her the whole time. I mean if she's in the bathroom, I'm going to be standing between her and the rest of the Raft. It's more important to me that Wanda feel safe about this than that we do it. We need to find out whether one of the criminals on the Raft is mindfucked or not, and Wanda seemed like the best bet. I know you're busy and I didn't want to bother you with it.

The goal here isn't to get anybody convicted. I'm looking ahead because I see trouble on the horizon and I want the Avengers to be prepared to handle it.

Not a bother. With leave from a fellow mystic, I've had 1.75 days off. ~~The first since 2016.~~ I'm well rested.

My primary concern is making certain that Wanda remains unharmed, the entire time. That is essential, and you're the one guaranteeing that. To help with that, you will have your way in and out.

I need to be clear though. Only very rarely does Avengers business coincide with that of the Masters of the Mystic Arts. Mystics are not supposed to intervene unless it's a mystical threat or to safeguard the Earth from dimensional evils. Thanos, rogue or malicious magic users, magic relics, interdimensional entities, or anything to do with Infinity Stones qualify as viable threats.

When, or if, I help on other matters is by personal choice. The same as this instance. I'm doing this because Wanda is involved.

To be clear, if I didn't think there was a chance of mystic business being involved, I wouldn't be asking for a mystic to look into it.

I'm following up on the magical trident that was used to disrupt the world's oceans. I want to make sure that the wielder's not under some kind of magical control. Maybe she's just a fanatic but if she is under somebody's thumb, we need to know who and how. If that's magical control, then Wanda will find it out. And if it's not, we rule it out and go on from there.

But if it is, then it's important that the Avengers know so we can prepare, and also that it turns up on your docket as something to keep an eye on.

I respect your time and your expertise and I do appreciate you putting yourself out here on this one for Wanda's sake.

Also we need to find you some more mystics so you can have more vacation. When you count your time off in fractions of days, it's not enough.

As a Master of the Mystic Arts, I might also be able to offer some insight. I have the text mentioning the Atlantean trident and I've handled it personally, since it's locked in this Sanctum. I can tell you it doesn't act in the same manner as a scepter with a Mind Stone does. Anyone controlling the trident must have an excessive force of willpower, or bottomless anger, in order for any elemental force to do their bidding. At all. That's why such relics are dangerous in the hands of the uninitiated.

I expect that if the prisoner has been magically influenced, then it must be from another outside source. Or they are naturally adept all on their own, albeit untrained.

Make no mistake, while my primary concern is Wanda's safety, I'm also interested in her findings. If some other unknown item is influencing people via magic, it needs to be locked away immediately. If it's another individual doing this, they need to be contained.

I appreciate your concern but that's not necessary. Many of us astral project to read or travel to different dimensions while our bodies rest.

That doesn't surprise me about the trident. What I was wondering was whether she had been mind-altered to be loyal to whoever gave her the trident. Her loyalty to the cause is hardcore enough that it might not be natural.

I'll make sure you have a full report from my end.

OK, if you say so. I still think we should be looking for people to help you out because, as someone who also never goes off duty, I think that's hard.

If her loyalty was fabricated in any magical way, I'll be looking forward to that report. According to T'Challa, the relic washed ashore and was reported by fishermen, but she either went there to pick it up herself or ordered it brought to her. Let me know.

I do say so. There are a lot of already trained mystics on this planet. I happened to have an infinity for the magical arts, but the actual training can take years or decades. Basically, I don't have time for well meaning but naturally incompetent newbies. Not while I have a Sanctum to protect, relics to guard, and mystic threats to monitor.

The Avengers take care of physical threats to our world. We take care of the mystical. The two causes won't intersect in every instance.

If you haven't had time to go off duty, have you tried inducing an Out of Body Experience? I can give you some links.

... I do get to sleep even if I'm on a long stretch of duty. I just have to wake up fast. I'm not sure I'm ready for out of body experiences but I'd be interested in reading up on them. If it's in a language I can read because I can't guarantee things like Tibetan are in my skill set.
