"Wonderful." And he meant it. "Part of me cannot understand why my brother is so resistant to opening up. He does enjoy being fawned over. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he finds himself with an enclave of concubines, happy to be physically appreciated while continuing to keep everyone from arm's length." Thor sighed. and shook his head. "In other, more pleasant news, we are currently working on obtaining that island in Norway I spoke to you about. I'm not entirely sure when this will take place, but I'm hoping in the near future. Until things are settled, I will have to be back and forth, but with Stormbreaker..." He glanced at the 'umbrella' in his hand. "I won't be gone long. And you are more than welcome to come with, but until we have actual facilities constructed... well, it will be a lot of camping on hard rocks." Nothing unusual for him, but he could imagine she'd want some more comfort.
"Oh, ew," Jane said reflexively. Loki and concubines was not an image she wanted. She shook her head a little to clear it. "Hard rocks are tempting. No thanks, I'm good. I have my own work to focus on while you're away."
"Time away isn't nearly as bad when you know it won't be long," he mused. His phone chirped and he patted his jacket pocket, ignoring it. That would be Darcy letting him know they were welcome to show up at any time. Perfect. He could almost see the warehouse from where they were. "Besides, isn't there an expression about how distances makes one feel greater emotions?"
"Fonder," Jane corrected with a laugh. "Distance makes the heart grow fonder. Though let's not test it with too much distance."
"No, of course not. And Loki will be with me. Val as well most likely. I suppose they'd want to be there to help with it all.....and if we do bring back the Asgardians, I feel like I will be spending more time with you, simply to have some solitude." As much as he looked forward to finally ensuring his people had a home again, he didn't know if he was thrilled about giving up all his space either. Some days he felt so, and some days he didn't. Either way, no matter. His home was quickly coming into view. "I promise, this will only take a moment. Do you want to go upstairs and wait for me? I need to get something out of one of the storage rooms."
Jane didn't see how he'd be busier with more responsibilities but have more time with her but she wasn't going to ask. Jane had never needed all of Thor's time. Only enough to know he cared.
"No problem," she said. "I can hang out for a minute."
Thor beamed again, and led her into the house. It was amazingly quiet, for a party, and he remembered that part of Loki's illusion had included some sound-proofing. Chattering to Jane about nothing, he brought her to the room and smiled. "I just remembered -- I don't know if you've ever seen this room before. Opening the door, he swung it inwards and smiled down at Jane. The Yggdrasil tree illusion was perfect, with the stars twinkling in the background. Loki had outdone himself, as well as Darcy as there were balloons with space designs, an elaborate spread of food, and people everywhere.
"Happy birthday, my love," Thor said, leaning down for a kiss. "Darcy did this for you. We all agreed you were much deserving of a proper festivity since well.." He trailed off. No need to mention the dusting again. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a box. " This is for you."
