"Oh yeah, May. Definitely straight home after school. Nothing to worry about." Peter grimaced, with his hand unconsciously placed upon the back of his neck where he perched on the edge of the building with a hoodie drawn over his face. "No, I haven't snooped. Costume must still be where ever you hid it." It had been like this for weeks now ever since his aunt had discovered his identity. In the beginning he had tried to fight and to argue it. After all he had turned down the opportunity to be an Avenger-it took him a while to realize that it had not been a test after all-and decided to be a local, neighborhood hero instead of trying to reach for more. But with May breathing down his neck it had been hard to even do that and when his only recourse was to worry her about his well-being he found himself in something of a stalemate.
And so this afternoon like a number of others he was not Spider-Man. No fancy costume, no home made ensemble. Not even any web-shooters. Instead Peter was about as low or rather no tech as possible, using no more than a hoodie and his quick reflexes to conceal his identity if he saw an opportunity to spring into action which came with varied results. He had a ski mask too but opted not to wear it unless he had to so as not to appear as one of the criminals he did his best to help round up around Queens.
But lately and particularly now as he consoled May he could not help but wonder if it was all really worth it at all. Given the density of super powered hero types in and around the city at large now it seemed to Peter that he was hardly needed anyway and though he felt a responsibility to his own abilities and what he could do for others using them the desire to going back to being no more than a simple high school student was strong. Even if it meant hanging up the guise of 'Spider-Man' for 'Penis Parker.'
"Yeah, I'll be safe. Love you May." Sliding his phone into his pocket as he slowly stood on the edge of the ledge, Peter began to turn to retrieve his backpack and call it an afternoon when he heard sirens in the distance accompanied by the screeching of tires. The sounds of which made him hesitate just long enough to justify his second thought before checking his hood and diving over the roof top toward the commotion in the distance.
With any luck he would be able to handle it and be home before May suspected a thing.
