Summer Lunch
Who: Natasha Romanoff & Scott Lang
What: A Lunch between team-mates
When: 9th July, lunchtime
Rating/Warnings: Green?

Hunting down where Scott was currently freelancing had been pretty easy. Honestly, Natasha figured they should probably do a better job of covering their tracks. He might not have been quite as recognisable as some of the other Avengers - or former Avengers, anyway, since the Avengers were still 'not a thing', as far as she knew - but it wouldn't be long before his name was as well known as the rest of them. And anyone with half a brain could start piecing bits and pieces together.

Reddit had already started. Normally she didn't spend any time there, Reddit was one of the worst places on the internet, but she'd been tracking the Where in the world is Bruce Banner thread ever since Bruce had disappeared a couple of weeks back in the hopes that he'd just left again rather than the (admittedly more accurate) possibility that he'd been sucked back into the timeline to be spat out again whenever it saw fit.

Magic. Ugh.

Leaning against the newspaper stand, Natasha slurped her iced coffee noisily as she looked over the brim of her shades, eyes tracking people as they left the building. When she saw Scott emerge, her drink fell into the bin and she fell into step next to him without a sound.

"Up for a little lunch company, Scott?" she asked, pushing her shades back up so they were sitting properly on her face.

Scott liked to get out a take a good walk through the city in the mornings after Hope left for work. He'd hand deliver some projects that he did if it were necessary, but he wasn't much for being confined to a single area for large amount of time. For many reasons.

So the mornings were perfect for grabbing a tea, a bagel, and grabbing a few of the latest science and tech magazines from the stands. He could read the newspaper online but he was still one of those sorts who preferred the old fashioned way (and still recycled). The city didn't offer much in fresh air, but in comparison to California? Ha, oh boy, he'd take it. Being the people person that he was it didn't take long to get into a little habit and learn the local's names.

"Thanks for the bag, Rory," He smiled across as the stand owner put all of the Ant-Man's purchases in a bag for him as Scott exchanged real paper money for it. One good thing about contract work. Though he already had done all the math on his taxes. He was good with numbers. "You can keep the change buddy. Have a great day." And just as he went to turn and make his way downtown to visit one of the bigger, fancier toy stores to pick up something nice for Cassie so he could send her a little care package, Natasha spooked the hell out of him and he dropped his bag, hands flying up, palms open defensively. Force of habit.

"Cheese and rice, Natasha." Scott picked up his bag, his free hand holding his chest in relief once he realized what it was. "How long were you even standing there? Am..am I in trouble or something?" Nat was definitely the super spy covert op of the group.

Natasha ducked her head to hide the way her lips twitched up in the corner, turning to watch a cyclist disappear behind her. "Long enough, you've got a pretty easy to learn routine, Scott."

Moving in step with him, Natasha's eyebrow arched and she tilted her head, looking at him over the top of her shades at his question of if he was in trouble. "Yes," she deadpanned. "You are. I've been sent to deal with you."

She pushed the glasses back up her face, sort of just enjoying the moment of being able to wind someone up who didn't know her well enough to immediately call her out as playing with them. The problem with Clint and Steve knowing her so well was that it was hard to wind them up. And Tony was fun to wind up, but the fallout wasn't always worth it.

"Keep walking, Lang."
